Cooking With The Husband~Filets with Shiitake Mushrooms

by Robin on March 27, 2009

The Husband has started cooking again! Back in the day, cooking was a bit of a hobby of his. He’s got the best Lasagna in the free world. He cooks a mean fillet and he’s recently perfected his mother’s Dressing (as in Turkey and Dressing!) recipe!

For the past few Saturday’s he’s been going to the grocery store and cooking the best dinners! (Not every night~Saturday night only!)

I decided this one sounded good enough to blog on Foodie Friday over at Designs by Gollum! (After pigging out on it, I can tell you for sure, these recipes are just divine!) For other great Food ideas head over here! And then I thought…heck, The Husband cooking on occasion makes my life beeeautiful, so I want to link to all the tons of other great ideas for Living a Beautiful Life over at Inspired Room! So this is a double link day! Check out these 2 wonderful linky’s for ideas galore!

His recipes came from Southern Living this week, you can click for the link…His menu was: Filets with Shiitake Mushroom and Wine Sauce~Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes~cheese bread(Publix)

I always get my friendly butcher at Publix to cut Fillets when I’m cooking but The Husband braved our new Butcher’s Market and got them there. They were melt in your mouth tender…

no comment…

Don’t you love a man who knows his way around the kitchen?!?!?

And he can even use the Kitchenaid!?!?

The Shiitake Mushroom Gravey was amazing…I found myself dipping my bread!

Thank you Husband…I’m glad you’ve gotten in touch with your inner chef!

If you were at all hoping that you would somehow stop my mad crush on your husband, you totally ruined the chances of that with this post.

And just a quick cuddle with that sweet puppy.

That looks amazing! I just have one question… can I send my husband over for some advanced training! Mine only cooks when the moon is blue!

I love that little white face! I have two faces like that too, although right now they look a bit pink from playing in the rain soaked Georgia clay!

Check out my post for Foodie Friday to see a video of the “next Paula Deen” !

The food looks amazing but Mike’s arms look super duper (is that a word?) Great definition!

Okay, back to the food. Can we have the mushroom gravy recipe, is that the SL recipe?

Peeps I have had Mike’s filets and they are amazing!

Love you both,
R

Ok, am I more jealous that he can cook or that you have a Kitchenaid?

I am going with the Kitchenaid since that is on my most wanted list for the kitchen just as soon as we have more counterspace…

I love to cook so it is ok that Warren isn’t Mr. Chef.

Your meal looked fabulous!
Lucky You!

Even though it’s breakfast time I could so sit down in front of that meal instead of my boring oatmeal. I will now be thinking of mashed potatoes and gravy all day!!!!

Kudos to your hubby!!!

Is the creativity and talent in your house contagious like a Virus? The food looks delicious.

You must be careful that someone doesn’t kidnap Mike. He does kitchen remodeling, builds stuff and He Cooks! WOW………………………..
Robin girl, you are truly blessed.

Awesome! I just love it when my husband is in the kitchen – it is usually for breakfast! He is the pancake maker in our home!

This just sounds so good. I would love it if my DH could cook, but alas, that’s not his thing. Enjoy your blessing. Hugs, Marty

Hi Robin,
You are one lucky lady – but I am sure you know that already :-)
My sweet hubby USED to cook -when we were dating he would wine and dine me. I told him back then that I would marry him for his “lumpless” gravy. He is a great cook – just would rather sit back now and enjoy MY cooking. I think he had it written into the fine print of our marriage license that I unwittingly signed… “Thy husband shalt not enter the kitchen or the grocery store for the remainder of thy days” LOL!

I am so glad that you stopped by today to say hi – it’s nice to meet you! Sounds like we are neighbors here in Georgia. Its always great to meet new friends! I look forward to reading more of your interesting blog.
Blessings to you,
Kymber

Thanks for stopping by. I so agree, it is hard to get the pie made for wanting to lick the spoon and the pan. Wish you were here and we could like the pan together. lol Hugs, Marty

How great that your hubby cooks! The recipes look great. I may try them myself. My husband is great at leftovers. He takes whatever is in the fridget and mixes it together in burritos or a stew and it always seems to taste great.
