Decorating for Summer!

all-things-heart-and-home

It’s Tablescape Thrusday and I’m going to show you a summer tablescape I set for our Father’s Day get together with the kids, but also today I thought I’d post some pictures of my little home all decked out for Summer Fun! Which brings me to A Beautiful Life Friday over at Inspired Rooms…I’m linking there because what you do matters…something as small as sprucing your home for every season can help make your life more beautiful…head over there for tips on a beautiful life.  Also, Hooked on Houses has the all-skate: Hooked on Fridays where you’ll find a plethora of fun things your blog-Peeps are hooked on this week!!!

Come on in…

dsc_3773

Now into the den…where I pimped out the coffee table with summer…Bindi says hi…tomorrow the mobile groomer is stopping by to shave the pups down to their pink skin…this is the last you’ll see of furry Bindi until October…

dsc_3781

dsc_37821

Mom painted the fireplace screen then changed her colors and painted another one and passed this along to me.

Come on into the dinning room where I’ve set the table for a family dinner tomorrow night…

dsc_3764

I found these scrumptious dishes at TJ Max for cheap…they will work great with the color scheme I’m doing in the dinning room at Christmas! And a bonus…they work for summer too! I had this fabric from some other project and the colors reminded me of sand and sea…

dsc_3767

These little birds were pretty cute when they were black but I pulled out my trusty spray paint and one spray of cream and then a bit of blue on top…I won’t hesitate to spray them again if the need arises…

dsc_3766

I so love this sea blue bowl…

dsc_3771Georgia peaches have come in with a bang…

dsc_3788

So I pick some up every time I go to the grocery store and tuck them here there and everywhere…they smell like home and they taste like heaven…

peaches

I only have a few things outside…Here’s where the birds eat…

dsc_3822

A bloom or two here…

dsc_3824

And here…

dsc_3829

A few herbs there…

dsc_35661

But there’s lots of green…told you my yard is all shade!

dsc_3825

TTFN Peeps…Happy Summer to you and here’s another tiny idea for Keeping Summer More Fun Than Frantic…  Give your kids their own window box or small space in the garden…they could research what plants  would grow there and then go to the nursery and pick them out and after planting them  would be responsible for watering and feeding them…Just something else that might break up lazy summer afternoons! And don’t forget to visit Susan at her lovely blog-home, Between Naps on the Porch for some beeeeautiful tablescapes!

Oh I love how fresh and summery everything looks. The blues and greens are so cooling. Your dishes are GORGEOUS! I really love how the table looks with the tablecloth diagonal over the lace and the matching dishes. I actually did go “Oooooh” :) Have a great day and a fabulous summer!

Peaches in top of Bell jars. If that doesn’t just beat all! I love your tablecloth. My mother also sets her table ahead of time. So precious of you two.

Oh, and the fireplace cover takes me back to Bible studies in your Mom’s den. She always greeted me with a cup of coffee and a smile.

The ocean blue and seashells make me long for the beach and the peaches have my taste buds all fired up. I plan to go by the farmer’s market tomorrow and pick up some fresh peaches. A fresh pie, some Peach Bread or maybe even can some Peach Honey! Yummy. Peaches are my favorite.

Your home is beautiful! I am surprised you had enough non-rainy days to get the photos. Up here in Greenville, SC area we are having thunderstorms every day.

I’m over here with Patty loving the fresh and summery looks. I have always liked shells but I can never make them look right. Mine are chunked into a basket together …maybe I will put some bright colored paint on the basket. :) I was a little breathless when I saw your table with the shells and the blue glass–love it.

So good to be seeing your beautiful talent again.

Your home is gorgeous. I love how you’re tied your summer theme into each room. Ok…..seriously. Who taught you how to do all those crafty things? Do you just have a knack for it? Is your mom the same way and she taught you? Did you take classes? What? Everything always looks so beautiful. Blessings, SusanD

Susan…you’re so encouraging…I get my creativity from my mom…she left us in December ’05 and I probably do most of what I do as a small tribute to the legacy she left and have a strong passion to live every day the legacy that I will one day leave. I so love the idea that what you do matters…even something tiny like decorating for summer…Hugs

Love your comment just now–”what you do matters–even something tiny like decorating for summer.”

Speaking of your mother…Besides her laughter, I remember her hands. You could look at those hands and know she could make/fix anything. She would be so proud. She is so proud.

Julie…her hands. These days I look at my hands and they are my mothers…there was a time I wished for long thin piano playing fingers…now I’m so happy I have her hands. Every day they remind me of her…
