I’m so excited to get to participate in Outdoor Wednesday today…it’s not that often that I have an outdoor post! But I always love visiting Susan’s blog-party and peeking at so many beautiful outdoor spaces…visit Susan, (A Southern Daydreamer)her blog is full of great stuff every day! And the reason I have outdoor photos today is this:
Welcome to The Great American Town Tour! Melissa Marie over at the most adorable blog you’ve ever seen, Huckleberry Prairie is hosting the tour…check out this decidedly American virtual tour of hometowns and get in the mood to celebrate our great nation’s birthday! And now…our little town…
We’ve got some beautiful old homes in Woodstock… this one houses Beverly’s Day Spa…isn’t this a beautiful color? The house, known as the Howell House was built in 1096…

I love this house…there are magnolia’s all over the property.

This is a little craftsman style home that’s for sale and zoned commercial…why is everything zoned commercial?
This is my favorite Woodstock home…

Here’s another pretty old home turned into a spa…Salon Venessa~

This old home is an adorable shop full of “everything for your home”…Christine’s Creations

This is the charming home of the Lakeside Ledger. Woodstock’s local newspaper!Wouldn’t it be wonderful to go to work here every day!?

This is a restaurant. It’s for sale now…

This is the home of Woodstock Community Church…

This adorable house is for sale and a darling as it is…it’s zoned commercial …

Right at the edge of our little park, there’s a row of shops…this is my favorite. FoxTale Book Shoppe…

And here’s the park…

A fun Bike store in Woodstock…Out Spokin Bicycles…

Another cute shop…they have knitting lessons! The Whole Nine Yarns! Love the name don’t you???`

Olde Towne Woodstock has added store fronts with charming living space above…oh, and we have a Canyon Burger…yum.

And located here in the Historic Woodstock Train Depot…it’s a BIG favorite in Woodstock…

The Right Wing Tavern (American Food Politically Incorrect)…yes, right wing, we’re in the deep south and we are still a red state! The menu here has things like:Freedom Fries, Condoleeza Rice Pilaf and The Tony Blair~(fish and chips)…you get the idea. They have a fun Sunday Trivia Night, no matter what your political leaning this is a great place to eat…

Here are a few more shops…

There were rumors galore that Starbucks was going into this charming old house…but then the recession hit and sadly the house sits empty…how utterly sad…Dear Starbucks…please come to Olde Towne Woodstock…we promise to keep you making lattes 24-7!

Here are the store fronts…not all of them are leased but there is a Cookies By Design…

And a few other things…my favorite though…Cookies By Design…

Right behind Main Street and the store-fronts are these adorable homes…it’s a beautiful community.

Before I go, I wanted to show you my vet…Olde Towne Animal Hospital…right here in this adorable blue farmhouse…I had to do a drive-by!

Thank you for visiting my little town with me…happy 4th of July! Enjoy your virtual visits to all the American Hometowns on the tour! And thank you Melissa Marie for hosting this red, white and blue blog party! TTFN Peeps! We’ll check out some ideas for Fourth of July Food tomorrow!

Felt like we were walking through Woodstock, meeting for lunch, and you were showing me around. I LOVE old houses–takes me back to my childhood and visiting my grandparents in Elberton, GA. Hope Starbucks will take the hint and come to Woodstock. We have had one in Monroe (GA) for a year but I hear they’re leaving. Not busy enough.
Great town!! Do you live in the same town as Susan? One of the houses looks familiar. Anyhoo – I was born outside of Atlanta, but I only lived there long enough to get a deep southern accent! Does Woodstock have an ocean? LOL – Just kidding!
Totally adorable town! I love the cute shop names!!

Oh how cool. The house you claim as your favorite is my favorite too. Something about red doors on a small cottage home appeals to me. Great photos.

Your tour just exudes Southern Charm! The houses all look so quant. We have the opposite problem, we would love to find an older character home zoned commercial to move our office into, but they are all occupied and/or difficult to find!!
I loved getting to know more of you through this! Nice job Robin!

I have not been up to Woodstock in years. I use to live on the border off of Hwy 92. Thanks for such a detailed tour of your town. We now live downtown in Atlanta. Is there a tea room in your town?

What Southern Charm. The most beautiful little city I’ve ever seen. I absolutely loved the big old trees shading some of the streets. The nestled homes and the country charm. Oh my, what a wonderful place to be so priveledged to live there. Please stop by and say hi at Country Wings as I would love to hear from you. “Country Hugs”, Sherry
what an awsome town, you must love it
What a beautiful town! I bet it’s great to go for a stroll there when the weather is pretty.

The white house with the rocking chair front porch that you said was your favorite? That house has alot of memories for Renea and I. Thru the 70’s until about 1998 that home was owned by James and Donna Green. James was a Woodstock city council member for a number of years. Anyway, When Renea and I first got married, we lived in an apartment on the side of that house! We lived there for our first year.
Wasn’t there a place called the 1904 House? I still have a few trinkets from that place! i loved eating there. The pics brought back so many great memories.
The 1904 House changed owners I think Tammy!
Wow, what great hometowns. I wish my hometown looked like this, not even close. I am coming south to Woodstock, it has everything and still seems so quaint.
Thanks for sharing a your wonderful town.

What a beautiful town you live in! Such gorgeous old homes, and the church is beautiful. But my favorite has to be the bookstore. There are so few independent book stores left, it does my heart good to see them! I can’t believe that I forgot to post a picture of my favorite bookstore. They just moved into a beautifully renovated building on the town square, and I keep forgetting and going back to the old location! Thanks for the tour. Kathy
Your are certainly from an all american town. That was a wonderful way to spend my after dinner walk!!
That’s a really charming town you live in and you are a great ambassador for it!

Oh my gosh, your town is gorgeous! I would love to live somewhere like that. This seems like a town where people would spend time on their front porches and have cook outs with their neighbors. Thanks for taking us on a tour.

Hi Robin,
I’m a member of Costco…wonder if they still have the book you mentioned. Loved your tour of Woodstock. My favorite house was the same as your favorite. Every once in a while I go through Woodstock I always gawk at the beautiful old homes.
I used to pass through on my way to Arnold Mill Road and Berry Patch Farms…they have such awesome blueberries there. And it’s blue berry picking time right now, I think.

Great tour! Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply to your sweet email. I clicked reply in gmail and you don’t have an email associated with google/blogger so it wouldn’t let me reply. I finally thought to just Google your blog name.

Woodstock is my kind of town!! I am in the Southeast, too, but I am too close to a big city! I grew up in a small, Southern town that has grown by leaps and bounds…so, your town looks like a little spot of Heaven!
