Big Bodacious Blondies!

by Robin on July 3, 2009

I recently got this book on Amazon. It’s the most FUN book EVER! I’ve tried several things from here but this recipe is soooo good, I changed a bit of it but overall it’s well worth the effort! I do want to say, this is a beautiful book. The photos are amazing and it’s  full of … well…”sticky, chewy, messy, gooey” yumalicious-ness!!Here’s the link to Amazon if you want to take a look inside the book! I love it!

I changed up the recipe just a bit and I’m gonna give you my version…take a deep breath and grab a gallon of milk…you’re gonna need it.

Big Bodacious Blondie’s (Adapted from: Sticky,Chewy,Messy, Gooey Cookbook)

***I have made several changes***

*1 cup unsalted butter

*3 Cups packed dark brown sugar

*4 large eggs

*1 tablespoon vanilla

*1 teaspoon salt

*2 cups all-purpose flour

*3/4 teaspoon baking powder

*1 cup pecan halves-toasted

*1 cup almonds, coarsely chopped and toasted

*1 cup walnut halves, toasted

*5 full size (1.4 ounces) toffee candy bar: HEATH!

very coarsely chopped

*1 cup white chocolate chips

*1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

*****to toast nuts: bake on an ungreased cookie sheet in a preheated (350*) oven for about 6-8 minutes. I turned mine half way through******* DON’T SKIP THIS STEP PEEPS!

~Preheat oven (350*) and put an oven rack in the center. Spray a 9×13 inch pan with Pam!

~Melt butter and brown sugar over med. heat. Cook and stir until they are blended and they start to bubble a little . Remove from heat and let this cool…it takes a little while.

~Whisk the eggs, vanilla, and salt in a mixing bowl. Then slowly whisk the cooled butter and sugar into the eggs just until they are combined. Now, whisk in the flour and baking powder. This will form a loose batter. (The batter needs to be cool before stirring in remaining ingredients)

~Stir in the nuts, Heath Bars, and chocolate chips into the cooled batter. Pour the batter into the 9×13 inch pan and smooth the top …

~Bake until the top is shiny and cracked a little and feels firm to the touch. The recipe called  for cooking for 30-35 minutes but mine needed longer.  (The book says: “When you insert a toothpick into the center it should come out with moist crumbs” I waited for this and the edges were a bit over done. Next time I’ll take it out at about 40 minutes even if the toothpick comes out wet…)

~Let them cool…they are better cool. Then slice and nibble! So rich Peeps…and oh so good! They are chock full of yumilicious goodness!

WOW!!!! Bodacious is right!!!! I was planning to make my old stand-by chocolate chip cookies to bring to a BBQ tomorrow, but I think I’m going to take a shot at making these instead. They sound ooey and gooey and super-decadent!!!

I woke up thinking about those blondies. Now I’m wondering if it’s your gift, my addiction, or both! My husband’s favorite dessert is brownies, so I’ll have to make these for him.

Robin:
I just printed the Big Bodacious Blondie recipe for my hunkaburnin’s birthday tomorrow. He’s a nut for nuts and chocolate, so I predict this will be a winner.

Thanks!!!!!!!
