Setting the stage for more important things…

by Robin on July 6, 2009

Happy Monday Peeps! Thought I’d show you a few photos from our cookout on the Fourth! Most of the fam came over, if you know me at all, you know I love to set the stage for more important things…family. Having lost so many in our family, it’s something I don’t take for granted. Those few times a year when we all take a few hours to spend together are so important. I hope you got to spend a bit of time with those you love…here are a few ways I set the stage for more important things…

I found sunflowers a Publix for CHEAP! If you have a Publix, check for some left over 4th flowers!!! Might make you smile this week!

Don’t they look like they are singing their little hearts out…

Lots of Sweet tea and Lemonade…and the mix: Sweet-Tea & Lemonade! My mom always drank that~ Does anybody else like it!? Just wonderin!

Elliot’s first Fourth of July!!!

..and I want to tell all Moms…

dsc_4209On your hardest day…the one where you feel you are at your wits-end…if you ever wonder why you had children…the answer is simple…grandchildren.  The hope of one day having grandchildren.

When you get to the other side of middle age, a sweet grandbaby makes life worth living…at least this Gigi …

And this Poppy think so!

This is my daughter Stephie and Ellie and my baby-sister’s daughter-in-law, Colleen and Debra’s 1st granddaughter, Ava! A baby makes life better.  Case Closed.

Back to the Fourth…Here’s my handsome nephew Zach with The Husband’s “Go-To” Burgers…they were really yumalicious.

dsc_4262

And here is part of the “dessert bar” … we are a family with very high triglycerides…we love our sweets.

dsc_4256

Now Peeps…today, may your boat be filled with taffy…I’ve no idea what I mean by that. But if I had a boat, taffy would be what I’d want it full of…since I hate fish and all.

Love to you…and prayers as we live today the legacy we want to leave…

Does Baby Ellie have a hint of red hair? Or is it just wishful thinking on my part? Maybe the lighting?

Ellie is so adorable and growing, my goodness! And the thing that stood out to me second only to Elliot, is YOUR hair, Robin! Gosh it looks great! As did the food and fun :) The proof of you living your legacy is everywhere! Blessings!

Vicky…thank you for saying this about my very fine, quite thin hair!!! Hair compliments are few and far between, and you have just made my day…even if I had to use HOT ROLLERS to get it to do that! (Who uses hot rollers any more???)

Hi Robin, I totally get the grandma thing. I became a grandma at 45 (well, a step-grandma earlier than that) and now have two grandsons (4 and 18 mos) and an 8 y.o. granddaughter. There’s something delightful about being a grandma and I think you have to experience it to understand. A good friend of mine just became a grandma and prior to that didn’t quite get it, but she appreciated my enthusiasm and gushing. The other day she held her little baby grandson as he was sleeping on her shoulder and totally got what I was on about all this time.

Being a grandma rocks.

And I need to say, I love your blog (I subscribe to it). You have such a positive outlook – I always try to see the positive and good in things too – and you have a beautiful family. You are truly blessed.

Beautiful baby girl and I love the sunflowers. For some reason sunflowers and the American flag look like the perfect couple to me. Thanks for sharing.
