Peanut Butter~Heath Bar Plaza Park Squares

by Robin on July 20, 2009

I’ve been making these little yummies for years. (The original recipe is here) I got the recipe from my friend Leslie, she called them Plaza Park Squares. But apparently Paula Dean’s been making them forever too (the recipe isn’t quite the same but almost), she calls it Ooey Gooey Cake.

There are variations of this recipe everywhere. I thought I’d try my own twist the other day I used two of my most favorite things in the entire world…Heath Bars and Peanut Butter! Oh my holy cow…go buy some milk.

Peanut Butter~Heath Bar Plaza Park Squares

1 box yellow cake mix

1 egg

1 stick butter-really soft

20 bite size Heath bars-cut into small chunks

Mix by hand, not mixer! Press into well greased 9 by 13 pan (Press well)

Use a mixer for this part! For topping…

1 box XXX sugar(powdered sugar)

1 (8 oz) cream cheese softened

1 egg

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

Mix and spread over Heath bar  mixture.

Bake at 350* for 35 to 40 minutes

Let cool and the cut into small pieces. These little suckers are richer than rich!

Oh my holy cow (love that) they do look good. Maybe my GF friends can figure out how we can do it–maybe substitute the cake mix for a GF cake mix.

I’m a first time participant of TMTT :-) I must say Oooey Gooey cake sounds more tempting than Plaza Park (did your friend ever say why they were called that?). Yours looks delicious.
