Tiny Tickles of Joy…

by Robin on August 3, 2009

While walking through Hobby Lobby the other day I felt a tiny tickle of joy. It was unexpected since I’ve been truly in a fog lately. But I’m not a complete idiot, I went with it Peeps. Here’s how it started, my mind was going through the next 5 months. What family parties needed to be planned, when would I bring the house from Summer into Autumn and then into The Holidays…what house project would The Husband and I try to get done before the end of the year…???

Then, right there in the ‘fall’ isle I spotted this little round candle ring…and my mind scooted down a rabbit trail…here’s what I saw on the trail…

I love the particle board letters. I found some scrap-booking paper that said:”Hey, Autumn is on the way”.  When I got home, I painted the edges of the letters scrumptious green.

If you don’t have watercolor pencils…get some. They come in so handy for making all sorts of things looked distressed or grungy. I used the brown to outline the letters…

Then just dipped a Q-tip in water and washed the watercolor all over the letters.

Just look how cute it’s going to be…

And there it is…a little Autumn decoration. I know you’re still enjoying Summer. That’s cool. But a great Autumn and Holiday Season requires a bit of planning. I’m going to be doing some of that planning for the rest of the year in the weeks ahead. It’s a very small expression of creativity but it’s something. And to me, it signals that I may be coming out of the fog. Love to each and every one of you and I’m praying for those who have shared needs. Let me know if there’s something you want to add…Prayers today for you to have tiny tickles of joy.

Your tickles of joy have brought me the same! I too have been in a fog and I can see myself coming out of it soon. Isn’t it amazing and wonderful that when that creativeness hits the fog lifts!!
Thank you you have helped me lift the fog!

I love how ever present your eye is for creativity! Please don’t tell me its Fall yet though, I am personally praying for Indian Summer. We’ve had an unusually cool summer and would love the temps to soar to 90, or heck I’d take 85, just for a couple of days :) Five more weeks till school starts and then maybe Fall?

Vicky, we started school TODAY!!! I agree we have at least a month of summer left and here in the ATL it’s been the coolest summer on record…I so fear we’ll be paying for it with temps in the 90′s in October!!!

i did this one…turned out so very cute!…only thing is, i think i should have used a darker fall scrapbook paper…the one i used was a cream colored background with pretty swirly flowered designs on it, and when i did the water color pencils, it kinda washed it all out. but still turned out cute, i just kinda reinforced the design with a goldish brown metallic paint, and you can still see it okay. even the husband liked it! thank you!

i have a very very small home, this project is perfect. i can just switch out the ring in the middle to adjust for the seasons/holidays…and my letters will go with everything! i’m always looking for stuff like this….thank you again!
