Sacred Days…

by Robin on October 21, 2009

We’ve had quite a day or two around here Peeps. Mike’s dad was rushed to the hospital Monday night. He has an aneurysm..or had an aneurysm. He’s 83 and there’s  not anything the Drs. can do except keep him comfortable.

It’s been so hard for everyone, Mike’s dad is a deeply spiritual man. Our daughter Stephanie said it best; “Granddaddy is the sweetest, kindest man I’ve ever known.” It’s true. He never says an unkind word about anyone, always looks for the good in people…and you never talk to him when he doesn’t steer the conversation back to his first love…his God.

I’ve said it before, all of our days are sacred. The first ones and the final ones. It’s an honor to be here with Mike feeling the pain of a life well lived,  that without a miracle, will soon be continued on the other side of eternity.

Please, if you think of it, say a prayer for my dad-in-law to have peace on this sacred day in his beautiful life.

There is something very special about sharing final moments with the ones we love. We lost my grandmother, father-in-law and most recently my mom this year. Your words are so eloquent. I am praying for your sweet father-in-law as well as the rest of your family. Hoping God showers his peace and love on you all. ~Lanie

Oh, I am so sorry to hear of this….praying for God’s peace and joy to fill your hearts. I am sorry for the grief you are feeling, but so delighted to hear what a strong godly man he is. He’s almost home; he goes before you……that’s such a comfort; I pray that you will feel that comfort as you grieve and that his days will be sacred to you all.

Oh, Dear One, my heart is breaking for you and your family! What a testimony of his life your father in law leaves. You’re so right, God has each of our days numbered and as our folks get older we know they’re closer to heaven. I’ll be praying for you all.
Blessings,
Shelia ;)

This is my first time commenting, but I have been reading and enjoying your blog for a few weeks now. I am so sorry to hear this news about Mike’s dad. He sounds like a wonderful person. My mom died two days ago, so I can feel your pain and sadness. I will include him in my prayers along with you and your family.

Robin – My grandfather was a minister and when his time on this earth was nearing completion, he told me that he wished to see his brothers and sisters who had passed on before him and he sure hoped that he would hear the Master say the verse from Matthew 25:21 to him. “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Mike’s father sounds like he is cut from the same cloth. It is never easy to lose a loved one, especially a parent, but may you take some comfort in knowing that your father-in-law is ready to cross into eternity.
