It’s Foodie Friday over at Design’s by Gollum and I’ve got a super easy pie to tell you about today!
Heath Bar Pecan Pie

If you want to add a little somin-somin to your pecan pie just make your regular pecan pie recipe, you know like the one on the Karo Syrup bottle!? I always use the dark Corn Syrup, I like it much better. Then add Heath Bar Bits…either crush the candy bars up yourself or buy them crushed. (DON”t use JUST the Toffee Bits, they have the chocolate coated toffee bits broken up now!)
Add 1/4 of the bag to the bottom of the pie crust, put in half your pecan pie mixture.
Add another 1/4 of the bag on top of that and add the rest of the pecan pie mixture.
Bake as usual.
You can add more if you like! My pie pan in the picture is a deep dish, so I double the recipe and double the Heath pieces! This is a delicious way to switch up a pecan pie!
We went to a tree lighting last night in the Historic Marietta Square. It was loads of fun, we actually had cold temps here in the ATL! Scarves, gloves and hats were necessary! How exciting! I leave you with a few pictures of The Husband, my daughter, Stephanie and Baby Ellie and I making merry!
Santa came into the square on a firetruck!

This is the stage where several school choirs sang!

We are Southerners and we bundle up when the temps aren’t in the 50’s!

Before the tree lighting we ducked into a fun little shop on the square to get warm!

A bench right in front of the tree opened up so we snuggled in to sip hot chocolate and wait!

Stephie and Ellie get an up close and personal look at the tree…which may have needed a few more ornaments!

But for Ellie…it was a wonder!

Don’t ya love twinkling snowflakes adorning light posts in small towns!?

And the tree lit up! (It could have used a few hundred more lights I think! Maybe the recession is to blame!)

Ellie was under impressed! Yaaawn.

Have a warm and cozy weekend Peeps…there’s a “Wintry-Mix” predicted for The ATL on Saturday. I’m off to buy milk and bread like everyone else in Metro Atlanta! It’s what we do in the South!

Great photos! Beautiful family!
I don’t know which is cuter, that pie or your family!! I’m sure the little is is more delicious than the pie, but I’ll have to settle for the pie instead. Great addition… must try!!!
Thanks so much for sharing – I was going to make a different dessert for company tonight, but I’m headed into the kitchen right now to make this pie!!

Got my milk and bread! LOL Thankfully earlier this week, so I won’t be in the store with all the frenzy. Really hoping we do NOT get anything to make the roads a mess! If we do, I have plenty of homemade gift projects to keep me busy inside a cozy house. I won’t be venturing out! Funny how us, Southern folk get a tad spazed over a snow flake.
Adorable photos! Uh, yeah the tree is a bit dim.
