The Symphony of the Tiny Bell

by Robin on December 16, 2009

If you visit me on occasion you may have read the post about my prayer for a Christmas Miracle.  I’ve been praying, and praying and praying…The other day, after pouring my heart out to God, I asked Him this: “and by the way…when I pray what happens? I was just wondering.”

Now…I’m a simple kinda gal. I need simple answers. I say this because of what I believe was His answer to (very simple) little ole me.

A few days later, I was looking at my Christmas tree. My gaze locked on this:

christmas-bell

As I stared at the tiny bell this is what I thought I heard in that simple head of mine…

” Ring the bell. You hear it? It’s like that with your prayers. Like the little bell’s ring, your prayer is music to me. More prayers…a melody. Sometimes, when so many join together in prayer,  I hear a symphony.”

“Oh.”

So this tiny bell has taken on a big meaning to simple me.  I won’t be packing it away after Christmas. I’m making bells for  everyone at our family Christmas party and sending them home with the encouragement to join together in the year ahead praying for each other…

Share, if you want to, a prayer need. I want to be part of a symphony on your behalf.

Love to each and every heart reading today.

What a beautiful post. I so believe in the power of prayer. I always try to remember that prayers are just a way for me to talk to God, and He always listens. Then He speaks back to me in my heart. May you have a Blessed Christmas. Hugs, Marty

I too love your story and I can believe it’s true. I never thought about it that way – but it sure does make sense. I don’t know what is on your heart – but I’ll be praying for you too. Maybe we can all get together and make a symphony.

Robin, thank you so much for sharing this about the bell. My kids hung bells on all our doors. Now I’m going to share this with them! Together we will make a beautiful symphony! I know our prayers are answered, not always how we want but what is the Lord’s will. Your in my prayers, have a blessed Christmas!

I want to say that whenever that bell rang an angel got its wings but… Good thoughts today Robin. I think we all (me especially) need encouragement from time to time that our prayers are not wasted. Miracles still happen and I do believe yours will come in God’s time.

Bill, Mike said : “I like this a lot but I’m disappointed that when a bell rings an angel doesn’t get his wings”. For the record…I hope my angel already has his wings!

I love not only how you “hear” God, but how you share your love for him with all of us! What a special message for this very special day today. (I’ll be sharing about it soon.) Thanks for giving me the perspective I need to head into today!

I’ve never thought of prayer that way. I can’t wait to share this with my kids tonight at bedtime prayers. Sometimes prayer is hard for kids to grasp (and adults, too!). This is a lovely picture for them . Thank you.

I love the vision and the sound in my mind of our prayers and the bell becoming a symphony. May God answer your prayer. Mine? I’m in the middle of a huge battle for my marriage. We are separated and things look hopeless. I’m praying for a miracle.
And read Psalm 141:2. It compares our prayers to incense rising up to heaven. I can just picture Christ standing in the midst and receiving each one. There was an altar of incense in the temple. Beautiful post. I love your blog so much.

How beautiful to think of prayer in this way. I, too, am praying for a miracle as we have had a rough year. My husband lost his job, we have no health insurance, my Father passed away (my Mother is living with us now) and our only child, our 28 year old son has decided to cut us out of his life. I am thankful for all that we still do have but pray that our son will have a change of heart. My miracle would be to lead my son in a new direction, back to his family. Your blog is so inspirational to me – I’ll be joining the prays for your Christmas Miracle. Blessings, JD
