Winter at our House!

Happy 2010 Everybody! I’m linking to Inspired Rooms Blog party about Winter Decorating today! And Michelle’s party on Winter Decorating over at Someday Crafts and Susan’s Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch today and I’m gonna show you how I take my little white house from Christmas to Winter! Coming off Christmas is a slow process and I can get a little sad when all the pretty things are packed away for another year, so I do a little decorating for Winter to help lift my spirit.

I love to sweep clean in January so there’s more of a clean feel to my Winter decorating…

Here’s our Red Door Welcome for Christmas…

I put up the icy wreath for a Winter Welcome!

And now I’ve got my tiny snowy tree up with a few snow flakes I made from borax!!! (I’m posting about that tomorrow!)

The coffee table looked like this last week!

For January, I’ve lightened it up a bit! I had so much fun with these yarn balls! Just pretty colors of yarn wrapped around Styrofoam balls! I’m going to make something with them but not before I leave them out to enjoy…

My  Hall Tree and little grapevine wreath all decked out for the Holidays…

And now! I added a couple of the Borax  Snowflakes! You know how much I want snow!

The China Cabinet redone…I’ve not decided what to do with the Dinning table…looking for inspiration, hopefully I’ll find it by Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On The Porch!China-Cabinet

And remember this fun project? Here’s the “JOY” for December…

I changed it out to “NEW” for the New Year! (Couldn’t put away my snowman quite yet…he’s holding a heart so he can stay out till Valentines Day!)

All-Things-New

And that’s as far as I’ve gotten! Tomorrow I’m going to show you the fun thing I did over the weekend with Borax and pipe cleaners!!!

Love to each one of you as we start off 2010 Living our Legacy~One Day at a Time…

Oh and by the way…do you put up a little winter decor? I’d love to hear any ideas you may have!

Love the changes/updates. :) I am planning to put up a wintery wreath as well. I haven’t yet taken down any of my Christmas decor though. I will get to that tomorrow when the kids go back to school.

So many great ideas/projects – thanks for sharing with us. It does seem sad to put it all away for the year.
Happy New Year!

I love those little ice skates on your front door and the yarn balls are too cute! I still have to put our decorations away, but I don’t put anything else out. I just put us back to our regular look.

I love your transformation from Christmas to winter. I am going to start on that tomorrow. Usually I take everything down. But this year, I have decided to put away all of my Santas but leave out my Snowmen and rearrange my groupings.

I was just today thinking of ways to still reflect the fact that it is still winter…but not make things look Christmasy. I have begun to take down the decorations and plan to put up white flowers…maybe some snowy vignettes. Yours look great! Nice inspirations! Happy New Year! Hugs!

I love how you have decorated for winter. It makes the adjustment going from all the Christmas warmth to no decorations, a perfect solution. I love the snowmen, the snowflakes, and how lovely your new decorations look.

Borax?
Beautiful changes….so pretty? But what is Borax? Isn’t it something you buy on the medicine aisle?

So beautiful, when it comes to this time of year it’s always helpful to gain a bit of inspiration when thinking of decor. I don’t want to jump right into spring, but I want to get rid of the glitter of Christmas. This is perfect! Thanks for sharing! Artie

I was hoping you would post something about the Christmas to winter transition. :) Looks great and makes me wonder if I should get my snowman and snowflakes back out. Nevermind. That would require me to dig the boxes back out…lol. Happy New Year.

Beautiful work like always Robin! Too bad just the teensiest bit of snow can’t fall just to put the finishing touch on your wintery wonders. Wish I could scoop some up and send it your way :) Borax snowflakes? This process I have to see!

Can hardly wait to see how you used Borax!
Julie, Sodium Borate is formed from repeated evaporation of seasonal lakes.
It’s chemical analysis is anhydrous borax, 53.8%; boric acid 37.2%;
Sod. Oxide, 16.6%; water crystallization, 16.2%; and chloride 37 parts
parts million….and used for everything from flea control, home
cleaning products, cosmetics and bath gels! All this @ no x charge: )

Robin there was a TV program in the 50′s, Mule Train…the sponsor?
20 MULE TRAIN BORAX ~. Posted this late, maybe no one will see.

I’d have to say that the yarn is my favorite! I love the colors. I have a lot of yarn put away in containers and you’ve given me a great idea! All my decorations are packed away and stored until next year. I usually leave my snowmen out but did not this year. I do leave my faux poinsettias out until springtime as I have them in a lot of different colors around the house.
