Organizing those Recipes!

by Robin on January 27, 2010

I have this amazing blog friend, Cheryl who has an equally amazing blog: Tidy Mom. Bet you’ve heard of her, but if not, you gotta check her out! She’s a talented baker and cookie decorator, she makes great things like this adorable camera strap, she has gorgeous photos and the woman is organized! Last week Cheryl posted about getting her recipes under control :HERE. You know, all those recipes we print off and don’t know what to do with! She had the brilliant idea to put them in presentation folders she found at Barnes and Noble.

I love it! The other day while at Walmart I looked for Presentation Folders, but Walmart didn’t have any. (And Barne’s and Noble wasn’t open at 6:45 in the morning!) So I improvised…

Recipe-Notebook

Since I pretty much baked my way through 2009, I’ve accumulated over a hundred printed recipes…all spattered with batter and stuffed in a folder. If I need to find one, heaven help me.

RecipesTaking Tidy Mom’s advice, I found these things at Wally World…*cute dividers, *page protectors and *a notebook that wasn’t plastic…so I could use my Mod Podge!

What-you-need...

Have I told you how much I love Mod Podge?  Okay, so I have. Anyhoo, I had my fun with some cute paper and ribbon and getta load of this sticker I found for the front of my Recipe Book… Can you see what it says?

“We are shaped and fashioned by what we love”

Ummm… yea.

I’ve truly been shaped by what I love…

In a word: Marshmallow Creme.

Me and my 10 extra lbs of chubalicious-ness can promise you, this saying is TRUE.

I got ALL of my recipes in here with room to grow!

Please notice my categories, you can see them in the mosaic below:

*Skinny Sweets

*Chubby Sweets

*Skinny Savory

*Chubby Savory

That says it all.

This was one of my most fun and favorite organizing projects! Thank you bunches Cheryl…aka: Tidy Mom!

All my recipes are located in the pull-down menu on the left column under: All Things Yumalicious!

Love to my friends as we live our legacy~one day at a time…

You should start selling these like Gitz’s pictures. I love them! And they don’t necessarily have to be for recipes. You could make prayer journals with dividers….I’d be your first customer!

I adored the one I received as a gift and spent a large part of yesterday organizing my recipes too. What a fun project to do though and then look at what a keepsake you end up with.

You could also fill one with “family” recipes and dishes that you make that are your kid’s favorites and then give them to your kids as a gift!

What an inspiration! Yours is so pretty! I started a few years back using 1 inch binders and plastic sheet protectors to store recipes. I think I have a dozen or so… all filthy and not a one of them cute!

Great ideas. I created two files….one for things I have made….and one for things I want to make. So now I can narrow it down a little bit and go in the right direction!

Oh, I love, love that quote! Really nice recipe book. I would like to make one, too. The ones in the stores are so expensive.

Girl, why you don’t have an Etsy shop with all your creations is BEYOND ME. If I had any recipes, I’d totally buy one.

If I send you all mine will you PLEASE make me one! ?!?! Oh wait, I’d probably have to organize the house just to FIND them all. That is what one future father in law in hospital over Christmas….the holidays….a partner with a fall on ice resulting in a broken back and then me smashing a finger BAD will rain havoc on an organizational freak! LOL I feel SOOOOOOOOO out of sorts! But I’m trying to get life back on track! LOVE LOVE LOVE the recipe book! I have most of the supplies already too.

That is soooo cute! I have tons of low carb recipes I have printed out and have them in just plain ole plastic binders. Never thought to decorate the binders…duh! BUT I just bought me my first bottle of MOD PODGE….it doesn’t work on plastic???? Why not???? Please tell me more about what Mod Podge will and won’t do…

That looks great! I would love to get organized like that with my recipes and such. Don’t you hate it when stores aren’t open at 6:45? ha ha ha…Stores should really cater more to our schedules:)
