I don’t remember a winter in the deep south being so frigid. I’m stubborn in my love for snow, but I’m gonna tell you the truth, the cold temps and biting winds were wearing on my last nerve. I know most of you live in much colder climates but the average high temp here should be 56* and we’ve been about 20* under that in January and most of February.
I was complaining to myself the other morning and these gorgeous tulips I got for Valentine’s Day caught my eye. They seemed to be promising warmer days were on the way. I argued with them, in my head, I wasn’t talking to the tulips. I’m not that crazy. ‘You can’t tell by me that warmer days are coming.’ I said in my mind to the tulips, ‘Everything around here screams winter.’
Then the thought came…when you can’t see anything happening, that’s when God’s behind the scenes, doing His biggest work. My head tingled a little. Maybe it was a God thing.
Have you ever been in a season in life that felt like winter? A time when nothing good seems to be happening and day after day your world looks like a harsh unfriendly place. That’s when God’s doing the most. We just can’t see it. Hang on…
One day, maybe when we least expect it, the green from a crocus peeks out from under frozen ground and tiny buds happen over night on the achingly beautiful winter silhouettes of trees.
Sending those of you who may need it a reminder of “The Promise”…
xoxo

I once heard Bible teacher and radio pastor, Steve Brown, say, “Never forget in the dark what God has taught you in the light.” I hang on to that a lot-through the winters and the storms and the floods-that crowd my soul. I think it goes along with what you have written here. Much love to you today Robin.
What a beautiful post – I love tulips over all flowers. I live in Texas and know what you mean – we have been 20 degrees below normal since Christmas – enough winter for me. I absolutely love your flair for words.
I love tulips, and those are exquisite. Spring is becoming a dangerous word for us again this year. While visions of sunshine and flowers in bloom grow in my head, with the wet fall, and the amount of snowfall we’ve had… the words major and flood are circling our heads and I am weary just thinking about it. Thank you for the gift of your words today.

What a great post. I love tulips. I just put flowers on my Facebook page to share this morning and also got the most wonderful e-mail. You click on a snowman and it takes you to a black screen and you hold your mouse and drag it all over and get tons of colorful flowers. Wish I knew how to post it and share it, all I could do was forward it. I would not like to live where it snows. It is beautiful, but I love the sunny days of Northern California mixed with the gloomy and rainy days. Today it is sunny and breezy, so I am sending sunshine to you. Have a wonderful day.

Thanks for the reminder! And now I think I will be on a mission, too, to find myself some tulips!

God made seasons for a reason and I love the fact that I experience all of them where I live. I love Winter! And, tulips too.
Have I ever been in a season that seems like WINTER!!!!!??? You bet! Having had 2 parents and 2 children fight addiction, I have had MANY seasons…..but Spring DOES always come….eventually. God works behind the scenes, and we need to remember to GET OUT OF HIS WAY and let Him!!!!! Xo, Pinky
Truly my life right now. Thank you for taking the time to post such an encouraging thought to those of us experiencing God’s invisible touch right now.
