by Robin on March 21, 2010

I’m so excited about this post!

I finally tried Home Depot’s latest wonder.

Behr has come out with a paint & primer in one! Oh my goodness! Anyone who has painted over red or painted stained furniture will jump for sheer joy over this paint!

Behr Paint Collage

I had a color in mind and honestly I’ve been looking for this color for over a year. I’ve tried samples of bunches of colors and I’ve always been disappointed.

I went to my local Home Depot with this Easter egg and this gorgeous vase.

I gave them to the brilliant technician in the paint department. She took lots of time with me and although she couldn’t match the vase and egg because of the speckles on the egg and the sheen on the vase she pulled colors that were close. We found a perfect match but the more I looked at it I could tell it was too dark. So she mixed it at 50% …too light. She went 25% deeper and we tried again…BINGO! I could not believe how much time she took and how great of an eye for color she has…please look…

The Husband is helping me re-do my Fun-Room and we stole a couple of shelves from the basement. I got so excited I kept painting things!

Before

The Husband wasn’t certain he believed the paint would actually cover without bunches of coats…

After one good coat and a second lite coat…The Husband is a believer.

I also painted a chair…and people, I’m not done. This is the BEST paint I’ve ever used and I’ve tried all the top Brand-Names.

(Almost finished with my Fun-Room! Can’t wait to show you !)

You’ve got me excited for this paint, I want to go buy some right now!! A couple years ago I made the horrible mistake of painting my bathroom a chocolate brown, do you believe this primer built in will cover this up?? I’d like to paint it a nice baby blue this time around!

The only problem I had with this paint isn’t really it’s own problem at all – I found a color made by Martha Stewart and Home Depot won’t use the Behr brand due to trademarkcopyrightthingamajigs. :(

I LOVE your blue paint color. I am on my way to look for paint for a shabby chic bedroom color. Can you share the paint color or formula? Pleaseeeeee

do you recommend paint with primer on new dry wall or should you primer it first with primer then paint it?

I’d use paint w/ primer on everything unless it’s furniture w/ an oil based stain that you’re covering! But the paint dept at the HOme Depot could answer the question of whether you need a primer at all on dry wall. good luck! xo
