My life no longer goes in seasons, as the change in environment doesn’t change my environment anymore. I honestly refrain from those ideas only because I find myself longing instead of living. Does that make sense?

Bill…that IS my dad and he does love chocolate! He’s where I get my sweet tooth, he’s almost a professional sweet-eater like his daughter!
And Bill when I start baking again, you are owed something chocolate (no nuts, no coffee flavor!)

I love summer time!!! After our cold, snowy winter, I am not complaining about the heat at all. I love to take walks in the evening around my neighborhood when the sun goes down. I love all my flowers in the yard and on my deck. I love going to the beach for vacation and to the mountains to visit my parents and sister. In the summer we have a more laid back routine here at home and we eat dinner much later at night. This summer we are re-painting all the rooms in our upstairs and doing some changing around of the bedrooms. We are also getting new carpet upstairs. I also love having my daughter home from college. Robin,
I hate the summer. I have skin that actually is allergic to sunlight…hives!!
I have to be very careful about my exposure to sunlight and I usually just try and be a “shady” girl. I have tried to be intentional this year and look for ways to enjoy the summer. Sweet tea on my wrap-around porch with the breeze blowing and the sky so gorgeous…that helps. A small welcome flag at my back porch announcing summer…that helps. Fresh pineapple and watermelon in my frig…that helps. Summer music really sets a mood for me. Jimmy Buffett, Beach Boys…I have taken these songs to work on Friday and tried to get my co-workers to relax and enjoy summer with me. It really helps. I also have an Hawaiian shirt I bought at W*lmart to wear to work on Fridays. And quilts on the bed, popsicles in the freezer, homemade ice cream…I’m making the best of my least favorite season.

So do I have the privilege of “meeting” a fellow chocolate lover? Or is the other stuff that we agree on? I must say: you have a pretty amazing daughter (if robin is yours). Does that get me some chocolate Robin?

i started my summer reading a fabulous book–the forgotten garden by kate morton. i’ve made simple meals, kept up on family chores, designed some greeting cards, and just enjoyed the longer hours of daylight.

I think summer is the perfect time for “living” stories. I think I am recreating a little of my childhood as I bake my way through all of the old classics trying to find the ones my dad talks about Its a summer like no other, but I am still trying to feel the sun on face as often as I can… Love your photo xoxo

Remembrance of summers past is on my mind this year. Summer is pure excitement for children. Freedom. Sleeping late, sleep overs, beach bunny days, picnics and matinee movies. The joy of playing outside after dark, and temporarily capturing in a jar, fireflies to be released before bedtime. Family gatherings for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July, accompanied with good food, laughter and storytelling. Sigh…..

We cannot go back in time, but we can remember.
