Anna’s Veranda Stole My Summer Heart

by Robin on June 25, 2010

I’m going to show you a Flashback Friday post that is one of my favorites! This is Anna’s Veranda and it stole my Summer heart…

I also wanted to remind everyone to please send up some prayers for the gorgeous Gulf Coast which is in turmoil right now.

*****

Sometimes reality is better than dreams Peeps…My daughter Stephanie found the most delightful inspiring house online.

Please allow me to introduce you to the beach house that I have fallen head over heals for…

~Anna’s Veranda~

Looks like a beautiful renovation doesn’t it??? That’s because it is! Here’s the house when it was purchased in 2003…it was originally built in 1909 in Marianna Florida and sometime in the 1990′s the house was moved to Inlet Beach Florida! You can read more about the history of this amazing home here~

So Anna’s Veranda is not only a beautifully renovated historical home…it’s on one of the most pristine, breathtaking beaches in the Southeast! Oh my gosh…give me a paper bag, I’m hyperventilating.

We’ve been going  to the beautiful beaches along the Emerald Coast almost every year for 24 years and I’ve seen loads of homes…but never one I loved more than this one. My heart belongs to Anna’s Veranda.

In 2003 Anna Hammer, Dan Jaul (and partners) bought and lovingly restored the home…Anna has given me permission to share her beautiful home with you…sit back and enjoy Peeps. And while your enjoying these beautiful photos keep in mind that Anna loves for families to vacation in her home.  Weddings, receptions and family reunions have also been hosted here! Picture it Peeps…a beautiful wedding reception here.

Anna and her husband Dan decorated the home themselves. Anna says, “we scoured antique markets all over the Southeast for over a year to furnish the house. I spent over two weeks picking out the paint colors.” Do NOT get me started on these paint colors…

The colors are one of the most amazing aspects of the home…as I have poured over these beautiful photos.(Anna’s photographer is an amazing talent out of the ATL …his name is Tom Meyer.

Anyhoo, as I poured over and over and over these photos, I asked myself…HOW did someone choose such a PERFECT color scheme ?

http://www.annasveranda.com/Corner2BedroomSunset_1755AV.jpg

Here’s what Anna says:  “it’s almost monochromatic…the colors are soothing and inviting”…she’s right! But I could never choosen such a beautiful palette…

(I think the wall color in this room (the den/living room) is my favorite of the wall colors.)

So, how did someone choose such an amazing color palette ? Anna’s an artist…turns out Anna’s a genius with color!

I’m not sure which room I love the most but the kitchen is in the top 3..

This dinning room…well it may take the prize. The color of those chairs…Oh my holy cow…I adore the color of those chairs…scrumptious~

The house is just a  minute walk to the Emerald Coast’s sugar white beaches~Close enough to have views of the water from certain rooms!

I feel like Stephie hit the jack-pot when she found Anna’s Veranda…the history and beauty of the house, the talent of It’s namesake, Anna and her art, (www.annahammer.com)and lastly the sheer brilliance of Anna’s photographer, Tom Meyer…(www.twmeyer.com)

All the info. on Anna’s Veranda is at www.annasveranda.com~

I hope you’ve enjoyed meeting the beach house that holds my little heart.

LOVE it. My dream is to find an old farm house, not a big one, just a small cozy old one, and redo it. But keeping the old look. I want it to have the old wooden walls and ceilings. No sheetrock allowed. Beautiful old time worn floors. Old country kitchen with farmhouse sink and old country cupboards full of pretty vintage dishes. Claw foot tub in the master bath. Master bedroom with big iron bed and shear curtains blowing in the breeze. Big front porch full of all sorts of old porch furniture (rockers, glider, chippy tables, etc.) And a big screened in porch on the back, for enjoying those lazy afternoons. All with a mountain views, of course.
Hopefully in a couple of years me and “The Husband” (as you call him), will sale our place and down size drastically and live the simple life. If there is such thing as the simple life. =)
Thanks for sharing the beach house.
Have a blessed day.

I am praying for the Gulf coast and all the people who live there. We have not missed a summer in 33 years, and that alone would break my heart. But I also know that they depend on the tourist income to survive. Don’t even get me started thinking about the wildlife we are losing. This house looks like a little doll house and the colors are perfect!
