Nutella Rice Krispie Treats! Gluten Free or Not!

by Robin on October 24, 2011

This is the week leading up to one of our big family events of the year! On Saturday we have our 7th Annual Pumpkin Carving Party! There will be 25 – 30 people showing up with pumpkins and their A Game! (Does anyone say A Game any more?)

*****About 1:30-2:30 if you can access facebook (phone or computer), head to my page (Robin Roberts Gay) and help us choose this years winner by voting for your favorite pumpkin!

I decided to open up the judging and put photos of the pumpkins online this year, so about 1:15-1:30 the pumpkins will go live!!! (As “live” as can be expected!)

$50.00 goes to the winning team, so hopefully there will be some good pumpkins to choose from!*****

Anyhoo, this week I’m doing party prep! You know the drill…and I’m crossing my fingers that our newest addition (my daughter Stephie & SIL Jon’s Baby Girl) will hold off making her entrance until after Saturday! (Baby Girl is due November 13…but Jon thinks she’s coming this week!)

But first I’m gonna share a little snack with you…

I did another recipe using the new and amazing Gluten Free Rice Krispie cereal! Remember the first one: Peanut Butter Marshmallow Rice Krispie Fudge Brownies !?

As I always try to do, this one is sooo good and super easy to do with or without gluten!

Nutella Rice Krispie Treats

(use gluten free Rice Krispie Cereal if you’re going GF!)

*4 tablespoons butter

*1 package regular marshmallows

*1 cup Nutella

*6 cups Gluten-Free or Regular Rice Krispies Cereal

*****

Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until melted. Remove from heat and stir in Nutella. Stir till melted.

Add cereal!

Stir with a wooden spoon till well coated.

Spray cooking spray on your hands and press this into a 9×13′ pan.

Cool…cut…and enjoy!

*****

~Have the sweetest kind of day my friends~

I have been eating Nutella with peanut butter and bread for an early morning snack or right after a bike ride. I have really found out I liked it. Unfortunately, I can’t eat RK treats because marshmallow and braces don’t work very well together. :) They sure sound good though. Good to hear from you Robin and even though I don’t do fb, I hope the best team (yours) wins. :) Love and hugs.

Mother’s told me how good Nutella is, but I’ve been paying her much attention. Okay, I’ll have to try it. Thanks. :-)

My family eats Nutella like other people eat peanut butter. We have ever since we lived overseas the first time. The bakeries put it inside the croissants….yummmm! My kids are going to love this. Another grandaughter???!!! You need a grandson. We are expecting our first grandbaby the end of January. I am beside my self as you can imagine!

Congrats to the moon Tammy! I’m so excited for you! There is nothing better than being a grandmom…I love my kids just as much as my granddaughters of course, but I get to just enjoy the tiny granddaughters…no pressure xo

Love Nutella, although we do the organic hazelnuts and chocolate combo, its the same flavor :) These do look yummy and something a little different! Can’t wait for the judging to begin! I may be at hockey but can bring along the Ipad if necessary! Wouldn’t want to miss out!

Have fun preparing for your family gathering and of course the actual gathering! :) I just ran across this recipe for a GF pie crust and thought of you. Hopefully you can add it to your repertoire. ;) http://keepitsimplekeepitfresh.blogspot.com/2011/10/apple-pie-with-light-and-buttery-pie.html

Curious about the GF Rice Krispies. We have been buying them lately (my husband is GF), but I am trying to find out what the difference is? Where is the gluten in regular ones? I don’t see wheat anywhere in the “regular” Krispies ingredients. Is this an advertising ploy or is there truth to the GF? Thanks!

Maythi…hummm, I don’t know! Have you googled? If it’s an advertising ploy I of course fell for it :)

After hearing from so many gluten-free families, we’re happy to bring you Rice Krispies® Gluten Free cereal. The new cereal is made with whole-grain brown rice and eliminates barley malt (the source of gluten in the original Rice Krispies® cereal). Our gluten-free option is produced in a separate facility, and each batch will be tested to ensure its gluten-free status. You’ll find Rice Krispies® Gluten Free cereal in the cereal aisle, right alongside the original Rice Krispies® cereal, and at the same price, too! So now your kids can enjoy a bowlful for breakfast, and they won’t miss out on the timeless taste of homemade Rice Krispies Treats® marshmallow squares.
