2013 Project Goals for Stone House Lane

The Husband and I have been making a list of house projects for 2013.  A list keeps us on track. A list keeps us from starting a random project on Saturday morning. A list gives us a reality check with how much we have to spend. But in the end, a list (to us) is only a suggestion.  No pressure…are ya ready?

Here’s the list…

The Master Bedroom

(here it is now)

I want to do built-in shelves and a window seat kinda like this one from Tar Paper Crane (so glad The Husband got a load of new wood working equipment for Christmas!)

And we need a chest of drawers that will also hold the DVR box! It’ll look a little bit like this from Four Generations One Roof

To finish out the bedroom, I may want to change up the duvet. Yes, the Master bedroom has a major overhaul coming!

The Dining Room

I’m adding drapery panels and chair covers in the dining room, see the windows? I’m not going to cover any part of them, just panels on either side to soften the edges-

And we really want to add a little built in to the dining room, something like this:

The built in would go here:

The Screen Porch

Our favorite coffee spot needs a few finishing touches…

I ‘m considering painting the inside white and also want to make slip covers for these chairs. (I want them to have some sort of blue or teal)

Kitchen

The Husband just started making a farm table and benches to go here: :)

This was his idea and I’m happy about it, we have room in here for a much bigger table!

(Anybody in metro Atlanta want to buy this table and chairs? We got it at World Market less than a year ago???  :) )

Landscape

We had a great landscape plan drawn up by the professionals at Pike Nursery – We won’t tackle the whole thing this year but we’re planning on redoing some of the beds and doing a paver patio in the back yard and maybe we’ll even get to the pondless waterfall! It will look something like this…

(Natural Waterscapes)

The Landscaping project opens a can of worms, The Husband’s redoing the deck stairs to empty into the back yard in a different place!

Inside Stairs

There are two staircases here, one to the upstairs and one to the basement. The Husband wants to get the carpet off of them. They’ll look something like Rhoda’s at Southern Hospitality when we’re done…

Gallery Photo Wall

I’m going to finally get to my gallery wall. I miss having the photos on the wall going upstairs. Here’s the one I had on Willow Creek:

The Basement Level

The Husband’s been working on the basement already this year. He’s *widened a door opening and *installed a double door going into the room that he’s storing his wood working equipment. And he took out a sliding glass door and *installed a pretty double french door.

He also plans on taking out two windows in the great room of the basement and putting in doors. (That’s part of the landscaping plan!)

Lastly, we’d like to do a little remodel of the basement kitchenette. It’s tiny, housing only a fridge, sink and cabinets, but just look at this kitchenette I found online!  (Everything here is from Ikea! Too modern for me but I like the general idea!)

Budget Solutions

Misc

And then there’s my project room closet which is in desperate need of shelving and organization!

WHEW.

(Did anyone notice that The Husband will be doing an awful lot this year!!!?)

We’ll adjust this list as we go and my guess is that much of it will be on our 2014 Project List-

Is anybody else slightly overwhelmed?

~Love love love to you my friends~

Oh, wait a minute…do you have any projects planned????

  2. I love lists! Looks like you have your hands full. It will be fun following along as you check items off your list.

    • Robin says:

Robin, I got a little overwhelmed with that list…but my husband said he was excited to start checking things off the list! He’s quite a go-getter! oxox

  3. It’s must be so much fun to dream about so many projects. You are so lucky to have a handyman husband. It makes the list a whole lot easier to tackle I’m sure!

    • Robin says:

Jojo, I think the whole project thing is what we do for fun. It’s our hobby :) And I’m soooooo happy my hubby loves to do everything around the house :) xoxo

  4. My hubby and I did a walk through of our home about a year and a half ago. We evaluated both inside and out and did a list. Our list consisted of three sections. 1. Right away 2. this year 3. Within the next 5 years. It helped us break down what we wanted to classify as top priority. Have fun with your projects. You have some gorgeous pictures there for inspiration.

    • Robin says:

Tanya, LOVE sectioning the list! I’m a visual person and I really need to see something, even if it’s just a sketch. xo

  5. Diana says:

I’m a list person so I have a list already. Starting small I’ve got misc. pieces to paint. After that I’m considering repainting some large furniture pieces but I’m stuck on color. So, I can’t wait for you to show us your projects so I can get grounded on color scheme.LOL!

    • Robin says:

Diana, oh honey paint is such a miracle worker isn’t it???? I’d so love to see pics of your pieces when you’re done if you have a minute!! xoxoxo

  6. HaHa…I noticed! Your hubby is going to be one busy guy.
Love your ideas and the changes ahead too.
    Cindy

  7. Thank you for the link sharing! My name is Anna and I’m a designer with IKDO, we posted the kitchenette design. We’re happy to know that you liked it! I think I’m going to be following your blog from now on. It has so many pretty ideas and the layout is just lovely.

    • Robin says:

Anna, I love all things Ikea! :) We’ll be shopping there when we redo the basement kitchenette! So nice to meet you-you did a GREAT job with that space-saving kitchen!
      xoxo

  8. Glad our media console has inspired you :) Good luck with all your projects!

  9. Great inspiration there! Love all the built in pieces, can never have too much storage!
    Happy Monday…
    Cindy

  10. Great list. We have the same screened porch furniture. Our porch is white and I love it, I think you will too, looks so clean and fresh.

    • Robin says:

Rena…I appreciate your input about the porch…you helped me with my resolve to paint!!! xoxo

  11. Lists are the only way things get done at our house! We are trying to sell our house (an adventure in itself these days), so the only projects we will be doing is to spruce up the yard here and there.

Looks like you have a busy year ahead of you! Enjoy and take time to relax. :)

    Hugs to you, my friend!
    Eileen

    • Robin says:

Eileen, I’ll be praying about the sale of your house! I didn’t know!!! Yes we will take time to relax, even if some of that list is left undone! xo

  12. Don’t even get me started on this year’s list! Ha ha. If we can just get the exterior scraped and painted, I will be overjoyed!!!

  13. Overwhelmed? I am feeling jealous!! ;) The built ins will be fabulous! Can’t wait to see them. :) I have a long list in my mind but that doesn’t mean it will get done. =P

    • Robin says:

Gina, That’s the way it is though…our list might be more than we can handle but we’ll check off some of it anyway!!! xoxo

  14. Great project with the pondless waterfall for your landscape. These are popular in Florida because of the issues with temp. and pests. I’m sure it will be beautiful when complete! Great pictures

    • Orlando Painting Contractor…thank you! Yes, we have issues with mosquitoes here in GA and hopefully the pondless waterfall will keep them from being a problem !
