This little DIY Pallet Wood Clock is one of the easiest projects I’ve ever done! The Husband has been so busy with his door project that I actually had to do this project by myself
He brought home some wood from a pallet and I’ve been dying to use it. I cut the long pieces to a manageable size and joined them with scrap strips of wood and screws.
Either trace a circle or use string and a pen (Instructions HERE) draw a circle to desired size. (My clock is 20″)
Using a jigsaw cut around your circle! If you look closely, you’ll see I was a little shaky, my circle isn’t perfect
Sand the wood smooth, paying attention to the seams and edges. (Make sure they look just a bit rounded)
I used my leftover Behr Semi Transparent Wood Stain in Pinto White to give the wood a softer look. You could water down an acrylic paint in a color and wipe it over and off of the wood for a different look.
Next, find a font on your computer with the look you want. I used FancyPants and printed off numbers in an appropriate size for my clock –
Now just cut out numbers with scissors and an exacto knife…and use spray adhesive ( 3 M Spray Mount) on the back of the numbers and place them where you want them…with a pencil, draw around the numbers…the adhesive allows you to remove the paper easily. (The Elmers Craft Bond didn’t work for some reason!)
I used watered down craft paint to paint on the numbers…
Here’s how the numbers looked after I painted them on…
Too bold for me … so I lightly sanded them …
Ahhhh, much better…
Hobby Lobby has clock mechanisms for all sizes of clocks. The one for an 18-22″ clock was $19.99.
But I found (On the back Clearance wall) a damaged packaged with only the hands of the clock left, it was $5.00! Since I was on
my last penny for the Screen-Porch-Makeover, I decided I don’t really need a working clock on the porch…no need to rush porch time!
Since my clock has not working mechanism, it’s forever set to just after 5:00… that’s 5:00 AM, because three seasons a year, we’re on the porch, coffee in hand, pups and Reba-the-Cat keeping us company, by just after 5:00 in the morning!
The Screen Porch Makeover is ’bout done! Can’t wait to show you everything put together!
Have an Oh-So-Lovely day my friends
