I can’t put my finger on exactly why, but I am head over heels in love with tree stump tables.
I started noticing them 6 or 7 years ago tucked next to a couch or on a front porch between rocking chairs. From the very first glance they fascinated me.
I think I love living with elements that were decades in the making. Like all of the rustic and well worn things in our home, it’s the story behind them that wins me over…
When we moved into this house, to my dismay, we had to immediately take down several mature River Birch trees (plumbing issues). To help me let go of those 25 year old trees, Mike kept some of the stumps to make tables!
We used a double tree stump from one of those beautiful Birch Trees for our first table. Metal legs added an industrial vibe. You can find this DIY HERE~
Later, I made a little garden-type-stool out of a much smaller tree stump. This time I painted it creamy white… Super Easy DIY HERE–
This little gem has made the rounds! Currently, it’s right next to my place on the couch and perfect for holding my morning cuppa (I took this right after Christmas when my Ollie was still with us- I so miss that sweet boy)
When we had the bathroom remodeled, I knew I’d make another tree stump table for holding soap and something to sip on while I’m in the tub…
I needed it to be bigger than the small white tree stump table…
Mike had just the right size cutting from an oak tree. The stump had been drying for 8 months. I got Mike to add casters to the bottom so air could circulate and so I could move it if I wanted to…
This was super easy.
First, I took off the bark.
(this photo is from another table I made-but you get the idea!)
Then I sanded it smooth-careful to leave no sharp edges.
(again, photo from a previous DIY)
Mike added 3 casters similar to these:

Lastly, I painted the stump with 2 thick coats of white (I used Behr MARQUEE in Cameo White).
I couldn’t be happier with this functional little table…
And the casters make it easy to move when I need to mop the floor…
While we’re on the tree stump table topic, I thought you guys might like to see some of my favorites from all over Pinterest-
This 1/2 dipped table has that opposites attract thing going on. While the top of the piece is left gloriously rustic, that sharp line of dipped white gives off a more modern vibe…
And if you think you might be way too fancy to have a tree stump in your home, what if that tree stump was saturated in metallic gold?
And if gold isn’t your jam…how about metallic silver!?
Prepare yourself to be charmed by the shape of these natural tree stumps. They are just too good to be true…
This rustic leather table top is a great DIY addition…
I’m really drawn to these 3 smooth tables, they remind me of driftwood…
Tree stump tables aren’t just for adults, I know this because this scrumptious pink dipped table is absolutely delightful in the nursery…
Okay, at this point, you might be saying: “I don’t want to wait months for a tree stump to dry out!”
That’s understandable. And you don’t have to! You could always buy a table.
This one (already sold) on Etsy for $850.00!
West Elm has cute smaller tables for $250.00 each!
Grandin Road has these bronze tree stump tables for $129.00 each. (Now, that’s more affordable!)
Crate and Barrel has gorgeous one of a kind tree stump tables for around $399.00!
These lovelies are from Pier 1 Imports and seem like a great deal at $179.00!
See there, if you’re so inclined, you can DIY or Buy a tree stump table! And if you aren’t so inclined would you save me the stump from your next fallen tree?!?!
Have a beautiful day my friends~ xo
