Good morning Robin, I’ve been lurking around your blog for the past week and I think it is absouletly beautiful. Typically I’m only out for a two things: great before and after pictures and awesome tutorials. However, I’ve been drawn to your other posts too (I’ve even read several of your archives), especially today’s. It is a reminder to me that as difficult as it is to establish myself as an “new” adult (I’m 28 now but “feel” younger than I think 28 sounds) it is also difficult for my parents to adjust to thier new role in my life. It’s not easy but I try to remember their intentions are good. There is a girl in my Bible study who has a very strained, sad, and unfortunate relationship with her parents. Her story, though very heartbreaking, is a reminder of how fortunate I am to have parents that would love, accept, and support me in all circumstances. I want to thank you for providing that reminder to me as well. I live in Atlanta too. Maybe we’ll bump into each other one day! Have a wonderful weekend and very blessed CHRISTMAS!!
Robin- How do you paint all your furniture? Do you sand first? Do you use a paint sprayer or do you hand paint? I have alot of furniture I would love to paint and just not sure the process I should go with. Any info you could give me would be great. Thanks.
It looks like you used two colors for the shabby cottage..waines coating was white, what was the top color??? it almost looks like a light beige and kinda like a sage…Im looking into repainting my bedroom which has waines coating on the bottoms…I liked the colors you used..but was thinking of white washing the waines coating… thanks. Brenda
I have no idea how I landed upon your blog {funny how those things happen, right?} but I am in awe of your work, writing & creativity AND the energy to blog it all! Your pictures and stories {loved your grocery story post} are such an inspiration. I’m a 32yr old stay-at-home mom to two little girls way up in Chicago and I think I just spent almost two hours on your blog (I just know my hot tea is now cold!) What a beautiful shower you had for your daughter- my goodness! I am also in awe of any woman who can sew a button- and why is it that all the crafty, talented women live down South? We are the ones locked inside half the year because it’s winter- we should be able to make anything under the sun! But really, each time I meet someone truly gifted in all the homemaking arts- 9 times out of 10, they live down South. My sister and her family live in Atlanta too and I can’t wait to visit them next month. Each time we go, I track down any consignment shop I can find and literally “hunt” for those smocked dresses. Why can’t I e. v. e. r. find those beautiful dresses up here?! Anyhow, just thought I’d say hello. Your blog made me so happy tonight- thank you for sharing.
Julie, , I’m so glad to meet you! I sure hope you visit often so we can get to know each other! Next month it should be beautiful here in Atlanta …hope so! Where does your sister live? How long will you be here? I promise if you want to learn to sew you can! There are hundreds of projects that are no harder than sewing a straight line! Two girls…oh the joy. What are their names? How old? Mothering girls never ceases to bless…mine are all grown now and they are my best friends. I have a son (child #3) and there’s a strong bond between a boy and his mama but boys grow to be men and the day to day friendship isn’t there because he doesn’t need me like my girls do. love to you my sweet new friend~ xo Robin
I just noticed {from your vintage pink phone pic} that you also have a Nikon D90. And your youngest baby is named Emma, like mine. Okay, now I’m definitely going to be addicted to your blog!
Robin, I noticed a picture on flikr titled I Heart My books, and I was wondering if I could get your permission to use it in a digital story for my classroom. It is perfect for a backdrop for some of the slides on different genres. Thank you so much.
Thanks! Sorry for the repost. I didn’t see it the first time. As I’m looking at more of you pics, I’m really enjoying them. I will definitely link back to flickr, for sure. I really appreciate it.
Robin, I just spotted a photo titled I Heart My Books and was wondering if I could use it in a digital story for my class. I teach 7th and 8th grade English. It would make a perfect backdrop for a digital story on genres. Thanks so much.
I was just wondering what color of behr paint used on the bottom half of your cabinets. you had stated you would post it on friday. i just stumbled upon your site, i guess it was an old post….so i don’t know which friday you were referring too. LOL Thank you, Love, love your site debbie
Hi Debbie, Please come over to my bungalow…I’ll buy you all the paint you’ll need and I’ll even make you a lovely lunch! … I enjoyed viewing your blog and savoring your creativity. My style is a bit different, but all the same, I love your love of paint and your courage to use it! Buonaventura bella!
I was also told that I had Celiac in 2006. I also had iron in feeds for 2 years only to find in 2008 that I was give an incorrect information. Started to eat wheat again so I could go through all the testing again. Very frustrating. Long, long story.
I just stumbled upon your blog about 5 minutes ago from a link to your ruffle t-shirt tutorial on pinterest – I’m already at home here I love your style and your taste! And after looking at your book selection I thought I’d pass on a recommendation: “Gift from the Sea” by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. It is a quick read, but you will leave with so much wisdom and insight about being a woman. I am a 23-year-old newlywed and after reading it last year as a single I think it is time for me to read it again. It truly has something for all stages of life. Enjoy!
I had an idea to make a coffee cozy as a handout for my fellow Realtors at an upcoming Century 21 convention. I wanted to print something on it like “I like my coffee like I like my Realtor…strong and bold.” Kind of goofy, I guess, but no one wants a whimpy Realtor, right?!
So, anyway, I found your adorable cofee cozy samples in my search, and I think I’m going to make them…if I can get them done in time for the convention. It may be next year, I’m afraid. Either way, I am still very glad to have stumbled upon your beautiful website.
Where are you located? I am originally from Michigan, but spent about 15 years of my life living down south (North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida), and now God has brought me to Ontario, Canada. Just about everyone up here needs to start their chilly mornings with a good hot cup of coffee, and most people in this area are very environmentally conscious. So, a reusable coffee cozy is a FANTASTIC gift idea and yours look the absolute best.
I love Georgia. My nephew and his wife just moved to St. Simons Island. What a great little spot!
If you ever make it up to Canada, I’d love to meet you. We are about 1.5 hrs from Niagra Falls, and not too far from the border cities of Detroit and Buffalo, NY.
Hi Robin, I have been through so many things in my life …. including some quite extreme ones & when people ask me how I have coped – incl near death 3 times, paralysed & hospitalised twice, bed-bound for 8 years …. BUT I always say that I have my faith & He always looks after me … I know that no matter what happens, I will be looked after ….. & I am. I always have been, no matter what it was. I’ve been down to my very last cent …. & then somehow & from somewhere, I’ve received $100′s or even more …. before I needed it. My home has been foreclosed, and only days before I had to move out, I not only found a home as gorgeous as my own, but at the exact amount I’d budgeted for … whereas I’d seen the house in the paper & discounted it, thinking that there was a mistake of $100/wk in the number for the rent in the paper. It was the agent who actually OFFERED it to me!! I couldn’t believe it as it was PERFECT for me …. still the right number of bedrooms, large living areas, everything …. just no huge spa bath!! LOL Even the garden was smaller, which was what I’d wanted! I’d even seen other places but they were $100 over my budget, none of the ‘mod cons’ that this does, no en suite, walk-in robe, & wouldn’t accept dogs! BUT GOD looked after me!! Not only did he give me exactly want I wanted, but at the price I could pay …. & even allowed me 2 weeks to move in without rent!!! These things have happened to me all my life …. & I know there is ONE reason … God is watching over me … & taking good care of me, no matter what happens. Whereas my mother reads her Bible twice/day, goes to Bible study, etc … but doesn’t hand over her needs. She crosses every bridge even before she knows one is anywhere near. I love living with the peace God works in my life …. It’s so much easier to hand over to Him, than to have Faith but not trust in Him. Cheers, Wendy
I just wanted to tell you How Much I Appreciate your emails that I get from you! You are Real in a world that wants nothing of it!! I prayed for you awhile back in the summer when you were going through all your Health probs….I will continue to pray God will lead you the way that will bring Glory to Him! Many Healthy Days to You in the future((: Stefanie
Hi, Robin! Love your site. I met your BFF at a writer’s workshop a few years back. I can see why you’re BFF’s–you’re both so delightful! I’m thinking of starting a blog and would like to know what host (is that the right word?) you use. I really like the look!
Good Morning Robin…For “some reason” I had bookmarked your blog several, several months ago. Well I was led to look at it all over again. Such a blessing!! You are inspiring, creative and alot of fun!! I’m in the middle of totally changing everything in my home and a limited, shoestring, barely anyting budget…but you know what, somehow God is supplying in bits and pieces and it’s all coming together. I was a warm, cozy, color gal like your home, but now everything is changing to lighter and more neutral colors…interesting how things evolve. Oh and do I EVER love Behr paint…..can’t live with out it now!! I should finish up the living/dining rooms this week…then move on to the kitchen, so your min make over of the kitchen cabinets you shared are just what I needed to read about this morning. Thank you for sharing your life here in this cyber world!! We are blessed to have you in our lives!! blessings! glenis
Glenis I’m so excited to meet you! I love that someone understands changing things from cozy to breezy! I’d love for you to keep me posted on your makeover (I never have a big budget either! I’ve always done everything on a shoestring budget … but doing that really get my creativity going!) Do you do facebook or have any place online where you post pics? I’d love to see your house!!! love to you my new friend~ Robin
I was looking for ideas for some quick Christmas presents to make for my son’s teacher and came across your site. I have added it to my favourites list! I want to say thankyou for adding the Blessings Song by Laura Story. I have a thousand sleepless nights (literally 2 and a half more years) ahead of me with a baby who has trouble with eating. I hope one day to look back and see God growing me through this.
Hey Robin… I went to Family Christian Bookstore and found One Thousdand Gifts….and it was 1/2 off! I bought several for friends….thanks for sharing this book and also their site. Can’t wait to see the finished playhouse:)
Just sent you a friend request on facebook. I hope you are well and I want to thank you sooo, sooo, sooo much for the burp cloth directions as I am a broke joke but want trendy things just like any other mama and I have a sewing machine to do it with! Thank you! God bless you!
Robin, Isn’t it wonderful how God speaks to us through the everyday events in our lives? I am a “visual” person too….and am reminded of his strength and power with every turn I make….Blessing “all over you today.”
