These little Christmas Trees are so easy to make and look so pretty as a centerpiece or in a grouping on the coffee table…
I made these little trees last week and I wanted to tell you about them! I found these tiny foam balls for $2.99 in the wedding section of a local craft store. They come in the prettiest colors and are supposed to be used in floral arrangements, they’re called Berry Accents and they’re made by Darice.
I bought 3 little tree shaped cones…wondering, could I get those little little balls to stick on those cone????
***I painted the cones a pretty blue-green before I started gluing.***
And then came the glue…
First, I tried my favorite thing: Mod Podge….uhhhh, NO. Didn’t work. Then I tried Elmer’s Glue…that’d be a NO. Next I tried my Mosaic Glue…shoot! Still those little balls fell right off!
As a last resort I grabbed the high-heat glue gun. Perfect!!! Eventually I’m telling ya, I got it down to an art, just put glue on a one to a one-an-a-half inch section and drop some balls on the glue and arrange them so they’re close together. The high-heat is great because it takes a few seconds to get the balls onto the glue and then arranged…while I was doing that the glue cooled off to just the right temperature.
Once I figured out the glue situation the project actually went pretty fast!
I love the way they turned out! I had some left and did a little something else I’ll show you soon. I love these pretties! Have you ever used them for anything other than floral designs? Do share!
Oh man! These are SO cute! I wonder if I could talk my 17 year old daughter into making these for me since she loves to use the hot glue gun. haha!!! Anyway, great idea!

Those little trees are absolutely gorgeous!!! I collect small Christmas trees, and usually pay at least $10 per tree! Now that I know how easy your trees are to make, I’m definitely going to be adding to my collection! I’ve never seen those little balls before…I guess a trip to Hobby Lobby or Michael’s is in order! So gorgeous! Definately going to be making these soon. Thanks for the inspirtaion.
Found you over at Someday Crafts!
Hello! Love you craft idea! Went out to the craft store and I couldn’t find any foam balls! Do you have the brand name so maybe I can purchase some online?
Thanks!
Hey Christine! The ones I found are Darice Berry Accents (Floral Berry Foam) but I tried to find them online and couldn’t…I found mine at JoAnns in the wedding/floral design area. I saw some today at Hobby Lobby in the wedding/floral design area but they were a different brand…in a bag. Several friends have mentioned seeing them at the dollar store! I havent looked for them there but maybe you’ll have some luck at the dollar store! (The ones I found were .5 oz and $2.99)
Let me know when and where you find them! xo

I made the very same craft(just a larger scale and I used the berries from Christmas twigs)…and tried to use Modge Podge at first as well…that was a joke.

Looking for tiny woodland owl ornaments. Googled owl images and your website came up.How do I access the image or purchase the ornament?
Gerri, I’ve no idea exactly what you were looking for. I have woodland owl ornaments in a post from Christmas 2009- I got them at Target. Good luck w/ your search
Your forest turned out beautifully! I shall have to go investigate these floral paraphernalia… So, if you can only find Styrofoam -then maybe Mod Podge would work?
Totally fun idea. 🙂 Your blog is so fun, gonna have to Follow….. 🙂
I’ve been making these trees for a couple of years now, and still have fun making them, regardless of the burnt fingertips! I also get a kick how these little balls have a life of their own…guess it’s the static electricity! I haven’t seen the blue balls you used, but am now on the hunt for a couple of bags! Thanks for sharing your project!
I saw this and went out and bought the stuff, but you said you painted the ball before hand, how do you pant the tiny ball? one by one? i am confused (in canada):)
Lisa, I painted the cones before gluing the tiny balls onto the cones!
Does that help?
xo
Hi Robin, I really like your Christmas trees and was wondering about how many containers of the berry fillers you used for the 3 trees?
Hi Tannya! Thank you! It took one container for these 3 little trees! ox
