I made my brand new granddaughter Lucy Jean a quilt (posted: HERE) so I had to make my Tiny Love, 19 month old Ellie, a little blanket too!
She loves animals and the sounds they make so I decided to make a blanket with a little owl. I named our owl:
Hoo Loves You? Gigi Does! Owl…
*First I cut out 4″ squares and sewed them together to make a top. (I used soft flannel and minky on the front and scrumptious minky for the back)
*With right sides together I sewed the front to the back leaving a few inch’s open.
*After turning the blanket right side out through the opening I sewed around the edges closing the opening.
Then the fun part…Hoo Loves You? Gigi Does Owl!
First I sketched my little owl. There are lots of easy drawings online or in coloring books if you need ideas. Just remember to make it simple!
Next trace each part of your pattern separately.
I used Pellon Wonder Under to adhere the pattern to the blanket. The Wonder Under comes with easy instructions. It’s a great way to iron on a little somin-somin!
I stitched around my owl— then using embroidery thread I filled in that cute face…
I added a whimsical little limb for Hoo Loves You Gigi Does Owl to rest on…
And of course I had to add: Love Gigi!
Ellie loves soft blankets, she calls them “Beets”. We’ve no idea where she came up with the name: “Beet”!
She calls this one her: “Gigi Beet”!
I’m in love with my tiny owl pattern..she’s showing up in lots of places! Stay tuned!
Love to you my friends…xo
