We just had our big family party last Saturday. I love to send everyone home with a party favor at the end of the night. Last year it was a tiny bell, to remind everyone to pray for each other during the year…
I wrote about the “Symphony of the Tiny Bell” HERE.
This year I’m loving living cozy. In my Smilebox invite to the party, I asked everyone to RSVP and tell me what their idea of a cozy evening would be. They all said something involving being home, snuggled in with family and something yummy to nibble on. So I thought I’d give them a push to have a cozy evening-in with these cookies in a jar!
There are about 750 million Cookies in a Jar recipes but most are very similar. I decided to use Bakerlla’s recipe.
I actually filled a jar and then dumped it out and tested these cookies before I decided to give them to the fam. You know they needed to be tested! Oh, and they passed the test with flying colors! The are AWESOME and super easy. You don’t even need a mixer!
Don’t they look like the perfect addition to a cozy evening in?
Bakerella did a Cow Girl Cookie in a Jar…HERE. Aren’t they cute? I stayed with her recipe except for a couple of things.
Stay Cozy Cookies in a Jar
Ingredients for Cookies
1 quart Ball Jars
Squares of fabric
Yarn or ribbon
*****
* 1 1/3 cup all purpose flour, spooned into measuring cup & leveled
* 1 teaspoon baking powder
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
Mix first 3 ing. and add as the first layer in the jar
* 1 cup cooking oats~second layer in the jar
* 3/4 cup m&ms~third layer in the jar
* 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips~fourth layer in the jar
* 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed~fifth layer in the jar
* 1/2 cup white sugar~sixth layer in the jar
Pack down the layers as you add. I used a silicone baking sheet and made a funnel to help me add the ingredients without making a big mess!
I added the instructions for finishing the cookies on the lid under the fabric!
Here’s what ya do to make the cookies:
* Add 1 slightly beaten egg
* 1/2 cup butter – slightly melted
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* Mix wet ing. Into dry ing. using a big spoon and finish mixing by hand!
* Drop onto parchment lined baking sheet by the rounded teaspoon-full
* Bake at 350* until light brown
(I attached the instructions for making the cookies on the lid under the fabric!)
Everyone took home a jar and hopefully they’ll stir up some cookies one night between now and New Year’s and have a cozy nite in with someone they love…
My daughter Emma made the Live Cozy label for me…she did a great job!
I’ll be linking…HERE is a list great parties, if you have a moment …enjoy looking!

What a great gift idea! I always love when I receive cookies in a jar as a gift 🙂
You are SO clever AND so generous to send everyone home with a sweet gift! I’ve seen these before, but not with the addition of the M&M’s, which can only enhance the cookies!
Best!
Susan
I have always seen cookies, cocoa, etc in a jar, but I just really like this recipe and the looks of it. It looks so pretty also. I love receiving things like this also. Thanks for sharing such a great idea and recipe. Think I am gonna try it.
I think this is one of the sweetest (no pun intended) “just because” gifts you can give. I’ve used the large peanut butter jars for this & they are the perfect size. Makes me feel good that I’m recycling, too.

Oh, these look yummy & the way you present them is beautiful. I too, love to give unique gifts. I recently posted a few myself, along with some printable tags too. Come over and check them out. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

You just gave me a wonderful idea for my daughter’s birthday which is two weeks after Christmas! This summer she got her first apartment, loves to bake and loves M&M’s. Your jars look great!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

These looked so good that I had to show the kids. They immediately asked if we had all the ingredients. We did have everything in the house (I checked before showing them lol) and they made them this afternoon. Oh.so.yummy! I limited the kids to two each so that there would be some when Dad got home. He was thrilled to find cookies when he got home and said they were delicious. We will definitely be making these cookies again. Thanks so much for sharing the recipe!
Hi Robin~
Thank you for the Live Cozy cookie kit. I really like the look of the Mason jar with all the colorful ingredients. I baked the cookies today, with the help of Megan and Melia and they were delicious.
My cookies did not look like yours, but they tasted great and all of them were eaten!! I missed seeing everyone on Saturday. I hope you and Mike and All the family have a very Merry Christmas.
Love, Sparkle Plenty
