You guys know how much I love terra cotta! I’ve been aging terra cotta: HERE, painting numbers on terra cotta pots HERE . putting transfers onto terra cotta HERE, and now, with Fall coming I want to add a bit of metallic paint to dress it up a bit!
We do a lot of entertaining in the fall and winter so as summer wanes I do all my projects with autumn parties in mind!
Now, don’t be annoyed with me but I’m packing up the summer decor…I’m early I know but I can’t look at my starfish and shells and coral for one more minute. Yikes! Anyhoo, here’s a nice little addition that’s not overtly autumn but it fits right into my fall party planning!
Using a few of my favorite things, terra cotta pots, grapevine spheres and spray paint, I quickly made a few decorations that work for any time of year.
I put a piece of burlap ribbon over the terra cotta pot and using the gold metallic (or the silver…I went back and forth), I sprayed over the burlap ribbon and pressed the painted ribbon onto the pot …
I dabbed the wet ribbon around the rim of the pot which left a little gold behind, then sprayed the silver metallic onto a cloth and rubbed the silver all around the rim. This gave a little interest to the rim…
Both the gold & the silver metallic showed through…
I sprayed a light coat of metallic gold over the grapevine spheres…(and notice I rubbed the inside of the pots with my cloth just to soften the color of the terra cotta)
For now, these pretty Metallic Terra Cotta Pots are hanging out on the mantle but you can be sure they’ll show up on the table this fall for my parties!
I love the shiny metallic used in an unexpected way on the terra cotta…
I love this look!!! I might have to try this one. When we get back into our own house- I have a lot of projects ,but it will be fun. Enjoy this beautiful day . Hope to mail your box Thur or Friday- it’s been crazy!
