I’m reading the book, The Artists Way, in the book she suggests taking your creative self on little field trips! I did this in the dollar store the other day. Just went in and looked around and let my mind go…I spotted some Styrofoam balls and wondered what would I do with these??? I left with 3 Styrofoam balls, a couple of bunches of Gerber Daisy silk flowers and headed home to my fun room to dig around.
I found some cord. The kind you cover in fabric and edge a pillow with…looked kinda like rope and I was looking for Spring~Summer crafts so I glued the cord on the ball. Be warned…I’m not a fan of gluing styrofoam! But eventually I got it to stick with E-6000 craft glue.
“This is boring” my creative self said. So I went to the basement where my spray paint lives and…waaa laaa!
Here’s where I decided to tuck my pretend nautical ball of sea blue rope! I love it here! (Can you find it?)
Next I thought of my Jute Twine. I suppose an actual gardener would use this to … well, I’ve no idea what a gardener would do with this but I use it to tie around my wrapped presents when I’m using a rustic wrapping paper. Anyhoo…what can I do with this twine and that styrofoam ball? My creative self whispered in my ear.
I just started wrapping…no glue, just the mindless monotony of wrapping the twine around and around and around…the ball~
Here’s what I ended up with…it’s okay! Not too bad!
Then I went to the Dollar General Gerber Daisy’s … oh this would be deeeelightful! I just know it!
I simply cut the stems and stuck them here, there, and everywhere in the last styrofoam ball!
A little pink ribbon and how much fun is this? I love it! Reeeally makes me smile!
Oh and I found the colorful candle holder at Goodwill for a buck, I thought it would go with Emma’s Graduation Open House theme so I bought it. Once home though, none of my pillar candles looked quite right so I grabbed a glass votive holder and my trusty Jute Twine and my Mod Podge and just look!
Okay Peeps…there’s my best shot at my creative field trip to the Dollar General! These are easy, right!?!?! Happy Day to the creative side of you…
