Our third granddaughter is due in a few days and my daughter Bethany asked me to do her bedding! I showed you guys the baby quilt HERE and the little dust ruffle HERE. I finished the bumper pad and then got to work on the really fun yo yo mobile!
Here’s What You Need…
*Yo yo maker (1 or 2 sizes)
*Quilting Thread…you don’t want to sew yo yos with regular thread…it’ll break!
*Embroidery Hoop (you decide the size!)
*little Rubber Band!
Figure out how many rows of yo yos you want and map out your design…I did 6 rows : 3 rows with 7 yo yo’s and 3 rows with 8 yo yos. I used the larger yo yos here and there just for fun!
After you finish your yo yos lay out your design as you planned, hopefully it’ll all work out!
Hand stitch your yo yos one on top of the other…
Now wrap the inside of a wooden embroidery hoop with ribbon and use your glue gun to hold.
Carefully measure and cut 4 more strips of ribbon for hanging. Wrap the end of the ribbon and use glue gun to adhere.
Place the ribbon so the hoop will hang evenly.
I used wide ribbon and didn’t love the way it looked so I twisted it then used a little rubber-band to hold the ends of all four pieces at the top.
I sewed the ends of a smaller loop of ribbon to the ends of the 4 pieces of ribbon, this will help with hanging. (You can put fishing line through the loop and hang from the ceiling. I sewed two yo yos back to back to hide the guts!
I can’t wait to see this in the nursery!
It was easy and really fun…I hope our sweet baby likes it…love to you my friends…
