I don’t do a lot of book reviews. But I had to tell you about this one because this book, Choose Joy-this is a life changer.
Mary Carver, who is a writer and was a friend of Sara’s, helps share her story. The book is cowritten by Mary and Sara and is based on Sara’s writings on her blog: Gitzen Girl. If you were blessed to know Sara when she was still on this side of eternity, you know how powerful and life changing her story is. If you didn’t know Sara, you’re in for a divine appointment my friends.
There are lots of books that tell us how to live well, how to hold onto our faith, how to surrender…how to choose joy. I love reading those books, but honestly, very few of them have changed my life. This one is different. Sara, a beautiful vibrant young woman, developed a rare autoimmune disease in her twenty’s and suffered with ever increasing and debilitating pain for nearly 20 years.
Throughout that time, everything you and I would consider as normal, was slowly stripped away from Sara as her body grew weaker and the pain unbearable.
But something else was increasing throughout those years…Sara’s trust in God which resulted in Sara exuding this fantastically beautiful spirit of joy.
Through her blog, when she was still with us, and now through this book, she gently takes us by the hand and shows us how to find the “joy (that )is hidden in the cracks, in the unforeseen places God builds into our hardest times”.
I can not come close to explaining the impact of Sara’s life. I can only tell you that I’ve ordered (pre-ordered) books for all my reading family members and friends. (For the non-readers, I’m going to suggest the Audible version because there’s too much goodness in this book – I don’t want anyone to miss it!)
And I wish I could send every single one of you a copy. I mean it…I really wish I could, because this is the perfect 1st book of the new year.
Even though I can’t send a copy to everyone, I’m going to do what I can.
I want to send 3 of my sweet friends a copy- simply enter by commenting below and I’ll let Random.org pick winners on Monday of next week! ox
