We’ve done remodeling on one level or another in every room on the main level of Stone House Lane except for the Master Bath.
It’s not for lack of planning…we have a plan that involves marble, subway tile, bead-board and a clawfoot tub.
But other rooms took priority and now the basement floors and the back yard are screaming “Do something to me!” So we have put the major bathroom remodel in the master bath on hold for a few months. Except … that bathroom HAD to have more storage. ASAP!
Here’s a picture from the real estate website when the house was for sale…notice the shelf/seat/box coming out from the side of the tub. Our plumber told us there was no plumbing under that box … maybe the builder had seating in mind! I don’t need extra seating in the bathroom…I need a place for my stuff because no matter how much I’ve purged in an effort to simplify, I still have STUFF!
We talked about built in storage and then one morning I had an epiphany …
We weren’t using this armoire in the master bedroom!
It has all the room I needed for storage now and it fits perfectly into my remodel plan for later.
So The Husband took a saw and cut out that box next to the tub. He had to add some temporary beadboard to the wall to hold us over until we remodel the bathroom.
He also added beadboard and a couple of shelves to the inside of the armoire and took out the lazy susan that once held a television.
Of course I painted the inside…and TaaaaDaaa! Perfect amount of storage!
The bathroom still has the 80’s surfaces like this swirly beige tub, but not for long, one of these days soon there will be a claw foot beauty sitting right here.
The armoire was an easy fix and I love the way it looks!
This weekend The Husband is working on the garage and surprise! I’ll be painting 🙂
~Sending love your way Sweet Friends~
Love it! It’s amazing how fast your work is going. I’m still thinking about the play space you had just built in the other house.
The armoire not only fits the bill for extra storage, but adds alot of beauty to the bathroom. Great idea!!

I am soooooooo jealous of any kind of storage in the bath! (OK — I’m envious of that gorgeous armoire that I am coveting right now, too…) ;D
So glad for you that the pieces are coming together in your new home.
Looks like it was born here! Such soothing colors, and of course, I’m partial to claw foot tubs. I have one. 🙂
Will you teach me to fold towels like that?
🙂
Martha has a solution:

The armoire is PERFECT there!!! I wish we had one for our new bath. I am worried , WORRIED about storage in there too!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your towels are beautiful. XO, Pinky
Great solution, and beautiful too. It sure is fun watching you and your husband transform this house. I am so impressed with how quickly it’s coming together.
Poor Mike.. the guy works long weeks, then comes home to projects. If that isn’t enough, could you give him just ONE masculine area that is inside the house!? Just one. Please??? No white/pink/French/etc. in just one room. Only one. That’s all I ask. 🙂 (it is all perfect, though!)
Perfect solution! Looks right at home in the bathroom too. Enjoy your weekend, Robin!!!
Wow, what an awesome concept. That armoire looks great and is funcional to the max! We have a pretty large master bath but with limited storage. I’m going to look into buying or building one of these.
Cheers!
Joe
Once again you have solved a problem with a beautiful solution.
The storage unit looks great!
You are very talented and have an eye for color and function. My question is what Brand and Color of paint did you use for the armoire? (the outside color and drawer color) It looks lovely. I have a pine armoire in my bedroom that was used for a t.v storage and would like utilize like you. I would greatly appreciate any input. Thank you for your time.
Blessings,
Judy
Judy the color is a custom paint color from Behr Ultra paint with primer but if you like it, try a sample of Behr Pensive Sky, it’s almost exactly the same color! xo
