Happy Monday Peeps! My very first granddaughter,Elliot (Ellie) came early and weighed in at only 4 lbs. so we didn’t get to put the finishing touches on her nursery until now!
The letters were from Hobby Lobby…thin and light. Perfect for a nursery wall. I found paper that felt like the mood of the nursery. I traced the letters and cut them out with a craft knife and my scissors…
Next I painted the back and edges of each letter…
After using Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the letter, I lightly sanded the edges of the letters…Then, I used Watercolor Crayons to outline the letter then dipped a foam brush into a tiny bit of water and washed over the outline to smudge it onto the rest of the letter. ..I did this twice drying in between to give the letters an antiqued look.
The top letter is before I smudged, the bottom is after smudge! See how the watercolor crayon subdues the color on the letter?
I used Mod Podge to seal the letters after all the watercolor smudges were dry. I put on two coats … letting the first coat dry before putting on the second.
You could use just initials…Bethany wants to do a “B” on a door in their game room…An initial would also look great on a bookshelf…I also have a great idea to do “JOY” for Christmas…can’t wait to show you this idea!!! Aaaaany Hooooo…
Here are the finished letters! Stephie is going to hang them with ribbons…I’ll show you around the finished nursery when we get it all together! Have a great day ~Hugs~
wow these turned out great! good job
can you imagine how much it would have cost to buy them in a boutique, not that I’ve seen any as nice as that anyway

Martha WHO??? Those letters are fantastic! I hope Em likes them because I would really like to do something like that in her room in the new house. I like the idea of doing a family thing in a game room, too. I have a fear of my own art projects, so I’m doing little things in the laundry closet as a starting point. 🙂 Maybe I can do a C-L-E-A-N for inspiration. That word is so much nicer than L-A-U-N-D-R-Y, don’t you think?
