I don’t love project update posts…
I like to do a project and give you the before, during and after in one lovely grouping. Update posts have before and during photos without the after pictures and that makes me nervous. The payoff isn’t good enough, all that renovation without the blissful beauty! But today my sweet friends I’m going to give you a look at a few before and during photos of the backyard project…can you stand it?
Here is our backyard before we moved into Stone House Lane…very sloped and kinda out of control! (this was before we added the screen porch too!)
Under the deck was a mess of tree roots and dirt…totally unusable.
Soooo, we needed a Bobcat. (We actually had a Bobcat out here 3 times for this project…)
Loads and loads of dirt leveled the yard…during all these ugly stages, I had such a tough time picturing the finished project, all I could see was the ugly. Not The Husband, he has consistently had his focus on the finished project. He saw the potential. Kinda like God sees when He looks at us…
Anyhoo, did I mention that we had to have a bazillion pavers …you can imagine how I nearly passed out when I looked at this truck full of pavers that would have to be individually put into place…for the love of pete.
With the yard a bit more level, before the pavers went in, The Husband put in seating walls…
This process took a long time because for the most part The Husband did it by himself…not to mention that we had a summer of record rainfall!
But eventually…ahhhhhh…the pavers went in…(notice underneath the deck! A little leveling and a few pavers and wow! What a difference, even that space is usable!)
With the cement block wall and the pavers in place it’s time for the next piece of this ginormous puzzle…
Of course The Husband is doing this, it’s his first stacked stone wall and I think he’s doing a stellar job!
We have to place put the tops on the wall…and finish the stacked stone columns beside the garden gate…and when I say “we”, I mean The Husband! (He did get our son, Timothy and a friend to help with the pavers)
Okay, I’m posting the finished backyard project (Heaven help us!) next week! You’ll see the raised stone fire pit and a few other fun things The Husband added…but for now, after all these ugly photos, I’m leaving you with something pretty 🙂 The Pondless Waterfall! I posted about it : HERE
Have you guys ever done a project that took months to finish??? 🙂
Sending love my friends xo
