It’s Flashback Friday with one of my all time favorite Fall desserts…Everyone has their own recipe for an apple crisp. Mine has butterscotch chips in the topping. Tell me about yours!
*****
How about we get our minds on a hundred things we can make with apples!? It’s almost that time!
Here’s the very first thing I make every September… Apple Crisp…I think everyone has their own recipe for this…I’d love to hear yours! I use butterscotch chips in the topping…holy cannoli guys, it’s really good!
Here it is right before I put it in the oven…
And here it is bubbly out of the oven…
Butterscotch-Pecan Apple Crisp!
* 1~12 ounce Butterscotch chips
* 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
* 1/4 Cup all purpose flour
* 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
* About 3 lbs tart apples (any apples work except Red Delicious, they aren’t that good in this!) ~ Peel & dice apples
Preheat oven to 375*. Combine butterscotch chips , brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Set aside. Place apples in 9×13 baking dish. Sprinkle butterscotch chip mixture over apples and bake for 20 minutes. While baking…mix topping.
Topping
* 1/2 Cup flour
* 1/2 Cup packed brown sugar
* 4 Tablespoons butter (softened)
* 1 Cup Chopped Pecans
* 3/4 Cup Oats
Combine flour and brown sugar ~ cut in butter (I do this by hand)~ Mix in pecans and oats (again, I do all this by hand). Sprinkle over apple mixture.
Bake at 30-40 minutes until bubbly and apples are tender.
Serve with ice cream or just get a big spoon and take the whole 9×13 to your room and lock the door!
Have a deeee-lightful weekend Peeps!
Love to you Peeps~

will look for GF butterscotch chips today!
What kind of apples do you use? This looks delicious and the comment about taking the whole pan to your room was very funny and something I might actually do! Have a great weekend.
Delicious! What a yummy dessert for fall!
I love apple crisp. The recipe I make came from the Food Network years ago. It has apples and sugar plus lemon juice, lemon zest and golden raisins. The topping is the basic butter, flour oats, brown sugar with lemon zest, cinnamon and nutmeg. I can’t wait to have it in a couple of weeks when my daughter visits. The butterscotch chips in your recipe sounds yummy. I’ll have to try it. 🙂
It looks wonderful! A yummy fall treat!

I’ve never been a fan of apple crisp but my family loves it so I usually make several pans of it in sept and oct and I think I’ll be the hero of the house if I add in the butterscotch chips!!
Thanks, I’m totally making this for them this week!!

Okay, here’s my weird confession. I don’t like cooked fruit. I don’t cook–but I do bake, and I’ve baked apple crisp dozens of times without ever tasting it. My family–my son and my sibs–always liked it, but I’m thinking it would be better with butterscotch chips. Hm…
Thanks for the inspiration!
i enjoy items such as this. thanks for the recipe. rose
