How’s your December story coming along?
You know, the one you’re writing with your beautiful life…day in and day out.
This morning, before your feet hit the ground, did worry cause your heart to race? Did that to-do-list…the one you have a love/hate relationship with, drown out your quiet time over morning coffee?
Last night sweet friend, did you spend time looking at Christmas home tours and come away feeling somehow less-than?
Maybe these struggles aren’t weighing down your heart this December…maybe it’s just me.
But just in case…I want to encourage us…you and me, let’s not allow the struggle, define our story this Christmas. While struggle is a part of my story, it doesn’t have to take center stage.
What do you say we take our worried hearts, our hurried hearts, our hearts that feel small and insignificant and give them to the One who loves us most…
Let’s lay it all down…
The worries over children, worries over money, worries over health…let’s intentionally place them at the feet of Jesus. The one who can actually do something about them. And that to-do list…what do you say we revisit it with pen in hand and mark off those tedious, unnecessary things that threaten to run us right into the ground this holiday season.
And while we’re at it…how about we pencil in some down time…some just breathe deep time.
And lastly, what if every time we feel less-than while looking at someone else’s home or clothes or hair or body…how about we quiet the negative voice in our head by saying a prayer of thanks for the gifts God has given that creative, beautiful soul. And hey, let’s don’t stop there. How about we go the extra mile and ask God to bless her, this fearfully and wonderfully made-one of a kind woman…
Maybe if we start now, this December story…the one we’re writing with our moments, will turn out to be full of good tidings of great joy…
And maybe…just maybe we’ll be able to give a few good tidings to someone else…
Sending you love today my friends…
And whispering a prayer for your December story…
