If you’re new here welcome! Today is my Christmas Open Hous- A Pastel Christmas!
Okay…now come on into my little corner of the world. Later this week I’m gonna post my last years open house when my house was decked out in traditional colors. But in the summer we did a big color change and this year the decorations are completely different…
Come on into the foyer…
A simple yarn ball wreath and a tiny slightly flocked tree say hello~
The dinning room has been one of my favorite paint projects. The vintage furniture was dark and a coat of paint made such a difference…(Dinning Furniture Post HERE)
My Gramma gave me all her old pink ornaments years ago. Since then I’ve been in love with those vintage Shiny Brite ornaments I buy them all year whenever I see them.
The den was probably our biggest change when we painted last summer. From dark paneling and rich colors to light-airy somewhat beachy colors…(before & after posts Here & HERE)
I had to redo all the decorations in the den this year…I love mixing textures and moods when I’m decorating…shiny, glittery, velvet pastels with soft cozy yarn balls and the texture of rough burlap…I made several new wreaths-posts HERE & HERE!
My little Tiny (foam-ball) Christmas Trees ended up on the coffee table! Easy tutorial HERE!
I’ve changed stockings 5 times over the years and none of them worked with my new colors, so I whipped up two burlap & velvet ones for The Husband and I. Don’t worry, the granddaughters will get overflowing stockings but we’re delivering their stockings on Christmas morning so theirs won’t be hung by the chimney with care…
I’m on a budget so I took my old mantle garland and cut out the traditional colored ornaments and added some pastel and glittery balls, a few mercury glass ornaments and some ribbon…
I can not get enough of yarn this year…I may start knitting again this winter!
I love this little bottle brush tree. It gives a bit of honor to the treasured photos of my parents. This Christmas will mark the fifth one without my precious mom. I miss her most this time of year…
Off the den is the little library which has the light airy colors but is still anchored by some darker pieces like the stained bookshelf The Husband made me long time ago and the leather chair. I had to change most of the tree decorations which were very rustic. (Notice the whole bottom of the tree is full of stuffed animals and non-breakables, this is so our granddaughter Ellie can un-decorate and redecorate till her hearts content!)
Last year the kitchen was done in a woodsy theme (which I love) but this year, like every other room, I changed it up a bit!
I kept the kitchen table really simple with a burlap and velvet ribbon runner and a centerpiece that little Ellie loves to play with…
These little snow peeps add a bit of whimsy to the kitchen and Ellie loves them. Click on picture to see how easy they are to make!
Are you old enough to remember these vintage Santas? I remember them from my childhood and last year right after Christmas I found a bag of them for a couple of bucks at a local antique store. I love ’em and they are tucked here and there…
What kind of hostess would I be if I didn’t offer you something sweet…
How about a big piece of Chocolate Banana Cake…it’s one of my favorites. Click picture for recipe!
And a little take home favor…I did these taffy flags for a party favor once, wouldn’t they be cute done in Christmas colors? (Click picture to see original post, it has some yummy appetizer recipes too!)
Wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas…
I have been so inspired by vintage ornaments this year and enjoyed seeing how you used them in your holiday decor.
Just lovely, Robin! I love the colors you have going on. I like to change things up from year to year, but that mostly means putting things in different rooms from the year before. : ) Although, I have let some of that popular blue color drift into certain areas this year. I love all your pink ornaments, they look great en masse like that.
Oh, my goodness! Your home and decorating is absolutely gorgeous! I love everything and it’s so romantic and soft – love the pastels.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia 😉

Love your Christmas decor. Last year we renovated and moved into an 80 yr old house that had been in my husbands family for years. My previous house was very traditional but our little farm house is very cottage style. I love decorating with those soft blues & greys like your. Have a Merry Christmas!!!
It is all merry & bright at your house. I love all the vintage ornaments. And your trees are perfect. You have such a soothing color palette. I will see you on Wednesday.
