I told you guys yesterday (HERE) that I was slowly starting my upstairs re-do. I’m changing my rich reds and golds to a lighter mix of blues, teals and whites. I found some scrumptious Shabby Chic bedding last fall and it was on sale, so although it doesn’t match yet, I put it on anyhoo! (I’ll show you all the bedding just as soon as I bathe the dark wood furniture in creamy white)
But I did whip up an easy ruffled pillow the other day. I found a old curtain panel at a thrift store. The fabric was so soft I couldn’t resist it!Β I also saw a set of full sheets that were the perfect color for what I’m doing upstairs. I wasn’t sure what I’d do with the fabric but I knew I’d find something.
To make the ruffles I cut strips of the curtain panel…
I hemmedΒ the edges but you certainly could leave them rough. Then I sewed a basting stitch down the center of each strip, pulling the top thread to make a ruffle.
Using a normal stitch I sewed the ruffles onto the right side of one of my squares. Put the squares, right sides together, and sew around edges, leaving one side open. Turn to the right side and stuff the pillow. Turn under open edges and sew shut.Β There are umpteen other ways to sew a pillow this is simply the easiest. If you want other options, “google”!
This was quick and easy and I had lots of sheet left to do another project! I made a really cute bedskirt I’ll show you soon!
