We’ve started the Craft Room Organization / Makeover!!! Yesterday The Husband and I agreed on & bought the flooring…I’ll show you in just a second! But first, I’ve got some pretty ways to store fabric…and I’d love to hear how you store yours!
This is a pretty way to store fabric from Jen Duncan! But my fabric never stays neat and tidy like this, does yours???
And this is just lovely…but again, my fabric is a hundred different sizes, not just fat quarters or in 1 yard sections…I don’t think mine would look this loverly after about 2 weeks! (Quaint Handmade)
I think if I made loads of quilts and had loads of fat quarters like Vintage Modern Quilts, this would be perfect- it’s like a little fabric store!
And look at this! My bud Lauren from The Thinking Closet is brilliant! I LOVE this …the fabric is neat and hidden!
This room from SpringyBread is ever so pretty, she keeps her fabric on open shelving like I do at the moment…mine gets messy fast and makes me nervous when I look at the shelves and the fabric is chaotic! I think the open shelving option isn’t good for me but I do love it in this room!
For those smaller pieces of fabric that are piled up in baskets, I love this idea from Girl Inspired!
Although I truly love all of these options, I’m going to have to keep my fabric somewhere besides my bookshelves where I mess up the neat folds! Do you guys have a stash of fabric? If you do, how are you storing it???

Okay…
We’re starting on the room! Yesterday we got laminate flooring from Home Depot-if you remember from my previous post on the Craft Room/ Office Makeover, we decided to rip up the carpet in that room- put down laminate floor and when we decide to move, we’ll either put laminate in the rest of the upstairs or replace the carpet in all of the upstairs rooms! It’s our way to save a little money and get rid of the ruined carpet in the studio space …I am a messy creative, between glue, paint and glitter my carpet in there is a disaster!
Here’s the floor…it’s wide plank and really beautiful…I’m excited about it!
Sending love my sweet friends! ox
Hi Robin
Love the flooring!!! and all the great fabric organization ideas. I am like you I can’t keep mine out in the open. I have a pretty corner hutch and the bottom has a closed area, I keep mine in there(all messy) Have fun working on your new studio/craft space.

Hi Robin, your fabric storage is gorgeous. I have a ton of fabric but it is nowhere near as organized as this. What a pleasure it must be to actually see what you have and access it easily. I’m truly inspired to work on my fabric organization and create some order to it all.
I also love the idea of the laminate floor and it totally looks like wood. I have carpet in my craft/sew space right now and it makes no sense at all-lol.
Take care and have a great week,
Lisa
Oh Robin, the floors are lovely, but these ideas on storing fabric are great. I’m going to try a few of these and see if I can free up some much needed closet shelf space. I’m excited to see the progress on your craft space.
I would love to have my fabric like the photos ! I keep mine in big tubs under the craft table.???? We just moved though so maybe I will try to do something better as it’s always a mess!
The flooring looks fabulous! I wish I had a dedicated craft/sewing room. Right now it is my dining room (which we rarely eat in – although it has a dining room table and chairs in it). I have a tall cabinet in there where I keep my craft supplies. I have to admit that my fabric is in bags in the top of my foyer closet (ashamed). But, I’m on a mission to get more organized, hence the purpose of my blog – so stay tuned.
The floor looks beautiful and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the room turns out! Hugs sweet one!
Love the filing cabinet fabric organization.
I have always kept my fabric in containers that have a cover and handles. They are also stackable. I don’t have a lot of fabric but it works for me as I always keep all my yarn in these containers too.
I love the floor! My next house is definitely going to have wood floors instead of carpet! They are much easier to keep clean. xxoo
I don’t sew so this isn’t an issue for me. Now, if I could find a solution for storing my flowers!!!!
Notecards, colored pens, staplers, sticky notes, gem clips–these are my fabrics. I have to be able to see the entire novel in an organized way behind my laptop as I write. That’s my project right now.
Once again, you’re my inspiration.
I love the floor. I’m planning on doing the same thing in my craft room.
HI, I do have tons of fabric and I roll it up like newspapers and stack in on my shelves. This keeps my kitty from knocking it all in the floor. Which he is prone to do. Bad boy!
Cindy, that is a Brilliant way to store fabric!!! love it, and thanks for the tip !ox
Aw, thanks so much for featuring my filed fabric, Robin! You’re the best! And neatly organized fabric really does make me swoon. Cannot WAIT to see what you end up doing with all of yours! (Gorgeous flooring, by the way.)
Lauren, Neat fabric is a dream…of course neatness in any area of that room is a dream right now! xo
I have a sewing room also. I bought a old pretty glass door hutch to keep m fabric in. No dust.
Thanks Love your blog,
Stephanei
What a GREAT idea for fabric Stephanie! I love that you keep the dust off! 🙂
