A DIY Jewelry Organizer! One of my organizing projects for 2013 will be my closet. Although I have a jewelry chest in the bedroom, there are certain little pieces of jewelry that I wear regularly and I keep that jewelry in my closet. Here’s where the jewelry organizer will come in handy!
This was just too easy- *a thrift store frame-Painted pink (Behr’s Bee’s Knees)
*Cut a piece of plywood to fit inside the frame * Cover the plywood with a layer of felt and a layer of fabric using a glue gun to adhere each layer-the fabric layer will wrap all the way around to the back of the plywood.
*Mark the places you’ll want to put the cup hooks (for necklaces) and the threaded hooks (for bracelets)
***I found the threaded hooks in the hardware section they’re just unassuming silver hooks-but they’re perfect for bracelets!***
Use a drill to make holes for the threaded hooks but first you’ll need to make small cuts through both layers of fabric & go slowly when drilling to keep the fabric from getting caught in the drill.
*Wrap the threaded hook with matching ribbon and glue in place with glue gun.
*The threaded hook will go through the back of the plywood just a bit…
And there ya have it! If I needed to keep more jewelry on the organizer it would be easy to add more cup hooks for necklaces and threaded hooks for bracelets!
This is one of the easiest projects I’ve ever done-now I can’t wait to organize my closet!
You’ll never believe this, but I decided I wanted a new way to keep my jewelry this weekend–jewelry box was taking up too much room on my dresser.
Can’t wait to show this to Mike’s BFF and get him to make me one. I’d thought about just putting hooks on the log walls, but this is so lovely!!
Looks good Robin, love the fabric and the ribbon wrapped hooks.
LOVE~ want~ I have been looking for a jewelry holder and the ones in the store are so expensive~ this might be the ticket! I will see if my father-in-law could give me a hand and I’ll be we could knock this out together… oh thank you for the inspiration Robin! Its beautiful!
