I was hanging out at my friend Kim’s blog-home Kim Klassen Cafe the other day and she had this really cool video on painting! (See it HERE)
After I watched her I thought I’d try a bit of painting myself…now, I’m NOT an artist. So my efforts pale in comparison. And I pretty sure I messed up her instructions big time…But I kinda like the way it turned out!
I used craft paint in two of my favorite colors and painted a bit of soft teal and a bit of soft pink here and there…
After it dried I painted a light coat of cream over the entire little sign…
Then I lightly sanded until I was happy with the colors…
Like I said, Kim is an artist and she simply painted on her lovely sign. But chicken that I am, I used scrapbook letters…I didn’t like the colors so I just painted right over them! Then I used a watercolor pencil in brown to outline the letters…then with a moist Q-tip just smudge around the edge and all over the letter. This gives them a kinda “grungy” or antique appearance.
Soft and with these colors it’s ever-so beachy!
I was on a roll so I experimented with a couple of other wooden things I had…
Thank you Sweet Kim! Oh and the woman is a brilliant photographer too…I used one of her textures in this photo…
