It’s springtime. At least it is in my mind and around our house. When the birds start nesting and the trees are just starting to bud, I do a little nesting of my own. Lightening up our rooms is easy when you change up just a few things.
Like the pillows in the living room…
I decided to add soft greens and blues to the sofas this year, but after looking all over town I couldn’t find any that I loved…
But I did find a couple of throws that were just perfect! So I decided to use two of them to make some pillow covers…
I measured the pillow covers I used last fall and cut 2 pillows out of each throw…
This is about as easy of a sewing project as any you’ll ever find…
Measure your throw/fabric leaving and inch and a 1/2 around 3 sides…
Turn right sides together and sew 3 sides- Turn right side out and sew a top stitch margin and inch around 3 the 3 sides you just sewed…
Add your pillow insert and either slipstitch the 4th side or just tie it shut if your throw has fringe! (I only tied the fringe in a few places so I can easily remove the pillow in the fall when I change the covers again!)
For $40.00 (2 throws) I made 4 sofa pillows and 2 lumbar pillows for our chairs…
If you can’t find the just-right pillows for spring or if you just want to save a little money, think about using a throw or two and make your own!
