I’m spending this week getting ready for our 13th Annual Fall Party! From about now until January 1st, around here, we’re busy making memories with family and friends. Is it that way with your family too?
I think it’s wonderful that we have Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s all served up one after the other. So many opportunities to create special times with those we love. The flip side of that coin, is that if we aren’t careful with our time and energy, we can quickly burn out.
So as much as I love a complicated DIY project, during this time of year, I like to keep it simple. With that in mind, I want to tell you about this easy wood slice tray that I anticipate will come in handy for Thanksgiving and Christmas!
This project fits my quick and easy criteria…
Here’s What You Do
I started with a wood slice from Hobby Lobby…
And painted it with a little Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint (I used Enchanted)
)
Then, with one of my favorite patterns of DecoArt Decou-Page Paper, I decoupaged the top of the wood slice… ( Of course you could easily customize the color and the paper to fit your theme.) When it was dry, I used a fine grit sandpaper and lightly sanded over everything to distress it.
I told you it was quick and easy! The wood slice tray will add an extra decorative layer to my food table at the fall party…
And after the party, I’m thinking it would look great with a few pillar candles …
Or maybe I’ll use it to hold mason jars that are full of silverware at my Christmas get together…
Yep…I’ll get lots of use out of this rustic tray.
Let’s keep life simple in the months ahead so we’re stress-free and able to make those once in a lifetime memories.
I’ve got lots of ideas to share with you in the coming weeks my friends~ xo
~Have a wonderful day my friends~
This project is part of My Year of Reckless Crafting
Where I do projects with materials I’ve never used before…today I used a Wood Slice Plank for the first time!
So cute, Robin! I’m going to keep the idea in mind if I have time to get to Hobby Lobby one of these days.
And this project matches my word for 2015. SIMPLE!
Thanks Robin. Hoping I get to see this nifty project in person. 🙂
