Hey Friends!
My daughter Emma was admitted to the hospital yesterday at just over 31 weeks pregnant. She’s been having major timed contractions among other things…
They are giving her steroids to help Baby Lucy develop at a quicker pace.
Her doctors are hesitant to give Emma meds to stop the contractions because the side effects are dropping blood pressure and racing heart. Emma has extremely low blood pressure all the time and has SVT, which causes her heart rate to go sky high when she’s just sitting still.
Emma says Lucy is busy plotting her escape :).
If you think of us, please say a prayer that Baby Lucy Jean stays right where she is.
Love to you my friends…I’ll try to post an update later today…
xo
You, Emma and the baby have had and will continue to have my prayers.

Oh, Robin, since reading this news on FB last night, I have had Emma and baby Lucy on my heart and in my prayers constantly. You see, I gave birth to my daughter, Bonnie, almost 28 years ago at 31 weeks. She came so quickly that the doctor never had the chance to try to stop the labor or administer steroids to help her little lungs develop. It was so frightening and I was overwhelmed with guilt that my body couldn’t hold on a bit longer to give her the oppurtunity to get bigger and stronger. I can relate to all the emotions Emma must be experiencing right now. But, God was so good and, though she only weighed in at 3 pounds 5 ounces, Bonnie was a fighter! Yes, her lungs were underdeveloped, and she spent the first 10 days on a respirator, but there were no lasting effects from that harried beginning. She is a beautiful, healthy young woman today. That being said, I hope and pray that Lucy Jean holds off on making an appearance just yet. Every day in the womb is another day that her little lungs grow stronger. I also pray that Emma is blessed with a peaceful, strong spirit and that she is able to rest and focus on the positives in this situation. Same for you and Mike. Emma and Lucy are going to need all your strength and energy in the coming days, so take care of yourselves. There’s a whole army of prayer warriors lifting y’all up, so take a deep breath, lean on God (His strength is so much greater than ours) and give thanks that He is in control.

Praying for your family and Baby Lucy. Keep your faith over fear and no matter what- God is with you:)
Will pray. Did pray.
A note of encouragement: my oldest son Vaughan was born at 30 weeks, after his birth they changed his age to 32 weeks. He spent the first 26 days of his life in the NICU but was a strong baby. Tiny, not much meat on his bones, but he was breathing fine after 12 hours with help. Hospital had a policy that kept him there for the 26 days.
Today, no signs of preemie and he’s a strong, healthy 16 year old and is now having a baby himself 🙂 God has his hand on Lucy- how exciting that her arrival day will be soon!
