A lot of people wait until after Thanksgiving to start decorating for Christmas. I’m not one of them! I love fall at home. I love Thanksgiving Day, but my mom always started Christmas decorating in November and I do too. But don’t worry, I can create Christmas in my home and still enjoy Thanksgiving.
Today, I thought I’d show you autumn at my house. I leave my fall porch in tact until the week of Thanksgiving. (Especially this year since Thanksgiving is late!)
This year I kept it simple by only using a few autumn elements. Mums, heirloom pumpkins, lanterns, and cornstalks made the porch decorating quick and easy.
I think it’s important to put a little effort into the space surrounding the front door. It’s how we give friends and family a warm welcome.
I’ll usually leave my fall porch in place until the day after Thanksgiving but this year I’ll be switching over my fall porch to Christmas on the weekend before turkey day since Thanksgiving comes late.
Another space to add a little autumn is the yard. When I used to host a big fall party, I used this area as a background for photos.
Also adding a few fall things to the back deck is nice, especially when you can see your back deck from inside the house!
So that’s how I welcome fall on the outside of my house! Do you add any pumpkins or mums to your outdoor area? And if you do, when do you switch over to Christmas!?!?
