As one season fades into another, I look at my home with a fresh perspective. The change going on outdoors inspires me to bring some of those elements inside, so I never lack for inspiration as the seasons change.
But there’s another side to that nesting coin…my eyes are also open to problem areas that I’ve ignored over the previous months.
That’s what happened when I was giving our screen porch a little fall update…
But before I tell you about the problem on the porch, let me tell you how easy it was to ready our porch for fall.
We have coffee and quiet time out here before the sun comes up and often sit out here in the evenings when Mike gets home, it’s been chilly, so a blanket is a necessity…the tartan throw is a bonus because there’s nothing better than a tartan throw in autumn…
The gorgeous throw I bought is —–> HERE!

Painted mason jars with fall flowers, a wood tray holding a tiny bushel of apples…so easy. (I take the tray inside at night but the apples come out during the day for snacking!)
But…
One thing bothered me when I started fall nesting…see this pretty bench that I use as a table?
I’ve had it for 25 years and although it was distressed when I got it, over the years the peeling finish became more of a distraction than a compliment to the space…
(this is the bench before)
So I did what I often do with furniture that bothers me… I painted it.
I used one of my favorite gray-blues from Behr Paint: Behr Premium Plus in Dolphin Fin
Is it blue or gray? Well, it all depends on the light…
And now it’s back to beautiful.
And it adds a little something to the space as opposed to being a distraction…
Like I said, there’s no lack of inspiration as the seasons change and fall is the perfect time for a fresh start…even for that piece of problem furniture.
What do you love doing to give your inside space a little infusion of fall?

Very cozy Robin! What a perfect spot for spending time with the Lord in the morning. 🙂 I love your tartan throw. I have a swing on my front porch that is begging to be painted. I hope to get to it in the next couple of weeks.
