Flowers from the table to the garden! It’s my favorite money saver when decorating for a party, especially in the springtime when I’m about to buy flowers to plant outside anyway!
This year I wanted to fill the trough that The Husband made for the farm table with flowers (DIY Wooden Trough HERE). I knew that to fill it with fresh flowers would cost a lot and the flowers would be long gone in a week, so I decided to let my flower arrangement pull double duty and go from my table to the garden!
Lowe’s has gorgeous flowers out right now..I like to decorate the table with one color for a bigger statement and these babies will go on my back deck just as soon as it stops snowing 🙂 (it’s not really snowing- it’s just freezing cold!)
For this arrangement I used a strong piece of plastic to line my trough, this plastic came from the nice people at Lowes to keep my car clean when I bought the flowers!
I watered the flowers the day before so they are nice and hydrated. Then took them out of the pot and gently pinched and spread the dirt from the bottom of the plant around on the plastic…keeping the roots intact. This lowered the plants to the right height.
Then to cover the dirt around the sides I added some strips of burlap! You can easily do this by sitting the plants, pot and all inside a pretty planter or a decorative pitcher or just wrap the pot (the plant came in) in burlap and tie with twine!
Next week I’ll carefully plant them in the ceramic planters on my deck and then keep them inside until it warms up!
Flowers from your table to your garden cuts the cost of entertaining down just a bit and the table looks kinda lovely even without fresh cut flowers!
~Sending you love today my friends~
