Nothing like family coming to motivate me to finish my guest room!
After we had hardwoods put in last fall, I didn’t take time to think about exactly what I wanted to do in here…really, I just threw the bed in and called it a day 🙂
But now I had time to think through how I wanted the room to feel. Like most people decorating a bedroom, I wanted a peaceful atmosphere that invited you to take a deep breath and ahhhhhh…relax.
After spending all spring planting ferns and other shade loving plants in our backyard garden, I decided to create a bit of a botanical feel in the bedroom…
Here ‘s the room right before I started work on this phase of the makeover…And after…
I love this sweet little reading chair but it was looking out of place…
Until I added the lamp and the tree stump table…
It’s probably just me, but I need air moving in order to get a good night’s sleep and while the wood bead chandelier is pretty, it cost me the ceiling fan!
But that’s an easy fix with all the pretty floor fans on the market these days…
Often times the guest room gets the leftovers.
Leftover furniture and leftover attention to detail, but just maybe, a room to welcome guests is one of our most important spaces.
After all, a peaceful, relaxing guest room is a practical way to show love to our friends and family.
And really, a budget friendly guest room is easy to create…
Have a blessed day my friends

The room is just beautiful! So relaxing. It’s the little things that make a big difference. I’m inspired to wake up my guest room a bit now…
Absolutely beautiful and peaceful!
Your room turned out lovely. I love the symmetry of the decor around the bed. I also love the bedskirt! When I saw it, I thought it must be very expensive, but reading that it was actually an old, stained lace tablecloth and was free was great! What a fabulous idea. I think I will be looking for an old lace tablecloth at the thrift stores!
I think you nailed it Robin. I would be happy to stay here. Beautiful windows with fabulous natural light too!! 🙂
I love it. So neat, crisp, clean, and most of all warm, welcoming, and saying, “come on in and stay a while”.
This is gorgeous! Fantastic job on decorating this room! My favorite elements are the rug, the chandelier, and the headboard. But, all the little details really pull it together.
