I’ve been hanging snowflakes for several years. I love the magical element that a grouping of snowflakes brings to a space.
This year Mike helped me hang a few (over 100!) in the entry…
In past years, I added a few snowflakes to the playroom ceiling…
In the entry, I picked snowflakes similar to these. They’re lightweight plastic with a hint of glitter…
This project took both Mike and I to finish.
We used :
Snowflakes
Fishing Line
Cup Hooks
Barrel Swivels
Mike first screwed in cup hooks in the places we wanted to attach the fishing line. He carefully put the hooks in the creases where the ceiling meets the wall.
Then I attached long pieces of fishing line to the anchor line using the swivels. Those swivels made everything easy because they effortlessly hooked onto the anchor lines.
Then I attached the snowflakes to each long strand of line by wrapping the fishing line around the delicate spikes of the snowflakes…
The finished product is really pretty and a nice surprise when friends and family walk into our entry…
The Playroom snowflakes are even easier. They are beautifully cut out of paper, similar to these.
I like these because they are intricately cut out of paper which makes them so lightweight that I could attach them to the ceiling with small squares of packing tape…(If you peel the tape off carefully, it doesn’t pull any paint off the ceiling. This is my third year hanging snowflakes in the playroom!)
These snowflakes come in long strands. I cut them so they weren’t too long…
We have a big Christmas party every year and there are lots of “Littles” in the playroom. They love the snow!
Hanging snowflakes would look really pretty hanging over a Christmas tree and I just might do that next year 🙂
Are you decorating for Christmas yet? If so, think about hanging a few pretty snowflakes!
Love the snowflakes!! What a great idea! Thanks too for the idea of having them over the tree!! I have bunches of plastic snowflakes……might hang some over the mantle too!
Your snowflake entry is stunning! And magical!
This is so pretty Robin. I don’t know where you get these ideas, but I’m glad you do…..
