Hello my friends welcome to our home!
We moved into our new (old) house a few years ago and we’re working on making it ‘home’. It’s a work in progress, but don’t hold your breath waiting for everything to be finished. That won’t happen anytime soon because Mike and I use our home to express our creativity. Some folks play golf or travel, we love our projects.
This is the front of our sweet house~although Mike and I have always loved wood-frame, country style homes, when we saw this one, which was in need of some TLC, we immediately saw the potential… (The BEFORE post HERE and HERE )
Stone House Lane already had a few elements original to Brick Tudor design so we decided to go in that direction when adding architectural details to the house…with that in mind, Mike designed and built the arched Tudor door and surround!
The 411 on the Arched Tudor Door is HERE
Come on into the entryway where you’ll see Mike’s DIY Rustic Entry Mirror! I wanted a rustic frame around an antiqued mirror…he nailed it.
Also, we recently did a renovation on the stairs. Tearing out the carpet, adding new wood on the stairs and building a newell post : HERE…
The den is what sold us on this house…we walked in and thought that all 35 + of our extended family would fit nicely in this open space. Or more importantly, Mike, the pups, the cat and I can find respite here…
This is the den when we first moved in…
We’ve recently made over the space…
And we loved that one room flowed effortlessly into the next! We did, however, add the center arch to make it feel even more open…
The den is open to the eat-in part of the kitchen…
We added rustic shelving in the breakfast room HERE.
Another project Mike did… the farm table in the breakfast room so our family could all sit in the eat-in kitchen for Sunday Suppers! (DIY Farm Table HERE)Which opens right onto the screen porch…
The breakfast room opens onto the screen porch…
The screen porch is small but we spend a lot of time out here! It’s where we often have our quiet time in the mornings. (until about December when it’s too cold even with a blanket 🙂 ) Recently, I gave the screen porch a makeover that included all kinds of projects! Whitewashing the floors and rails to soften up the builder grade wood.
A DIY Grapevine Sphere Chandy…posted HERE!
A really fun and super easy mason jar light HERE!
Lastly, this Lighted Side Table makes the porch feel magical at night…
We have a deck off of the porch. It’s very sunny and perfect for growing herbs in the spring and summer.
We’ve made a few changes in the kitchen and have a couple more projects in the works…
See those French Inspired Bread Boards? Mike makes those. I love the way the rustic wood warms up our white kitchen…
Do you love a good cutting board when you’re cooking? Mike made some and posted an easy tutorial … cutting board! HERE)
The Laundry Room is off the kitchen HERE
And the pantry HERE…
Come this way…into the dinning room…
We recently added rustic shelving in there! See it HERE
There’s a Powder Room on the main floor that had a door in the most ABSURD place! Click over HERE to see how we fixed the problem!
We have our master on the main and we weren’t sure we’d like it… but we really do..this is the bedroom..
More on the Master Bedroom HERE
We recently remodeled our Master Bath…see the finished room HERE
Wanna head upstairs because I have to show you the playroom for our tiny grandchildren!
This is the second Closet Playhouse we’ve put in. The first one was in our Willow Creek House: HERE.
And the details on this cute playhouse is HERE–
We recently added hardwoods throughout the upstairs and did little makeovers on the bedrooms and bathrooms up there!
This other guest bedroom upstairs is where I used to have my studio. When I moved it, this room went back to being a guest room. (Makeover details HERE)
The upstairs guest bathroom makeover is HERE…(this was a fun project, we did all kinds of cost cutting! Check out the post for details)
Here is that second upstairs bedroom when it was my studio — HERE is the DIY work-room-table post…you’ll never guess what the top of the table is! 🙂
I used that upstairs bedroom for a few years before Mike and I decided to move my studio to the ‘basement’ level right next to his woodshop!
Before you go, let’s check out the backyard! Mike worked tirelessly for months transforming a mess of an outdoor space into what is beginning to feel like a litte garden. The details : backyard project HERE…
Mike made us a dreamy garden gate…
We were thinking of Sunday Suppers and big family get-togethers when we planned the backyard. Roasting marshmallows, making S’mores and playing Corn Hole…every space is ultimately about the people in our lives…
My favorite thing has to be the pondless waterfall. We hear it easily from the screen porch and even from the den when the doors are open…(the post on the pondless waterfall is HERE)
We entertain in our back yard a lot… Vintage Parade and Picnic. HERE
Ice Cream on the playground at the Vintage Parade and Picnic…
