I was sick last week and had to stay home for days. Friends and family called to check on me and some of them said, “aren’t you bored?”
Ummmm, NO! I love staying home and I’ve not been bored since I was nine and my Gramma told me that “only the unintelligent found themselves bored…”
The ‘at home time’ can turn dangerous for me however, as it gives me time to wander around and dream up new projects. That’s what happened in my kitchen.
I want to lighten and soften my entire house and I’ve been working on that a little at a time. While sipping my coffee on one of my ‘stay-home’ days, my eyes landed on my kitchen curtains.
I like the curtains mind-you. But I’m sick of them…sick, sick sick to death of them. Soooo, without a thought, I put down my mug and climbed on a chair and jerked those suckers right down. Then I issued myself the :
IRON DECORATOR CHALLENGE
You’ve seen the Iron Chef, where the chefs have to make something wonderful with what they’ve been given…that’s what I do every now and then. Make something wonderful with what I have. No money spent…only use what I find around the house.
Nothing is safe when I’m in Iron Decorator mode…
This day, after much rummaging, I settled on using 2 vintage tablecloths (slightly stained) and 3 vintage pillowcases.
Here’s what I came up with…
Ahhhhh~ I feel better now. Now, I’m going to grab some Behr Paint with Primer and brighten up a few other things in my little kitchen!
Do you “shop your house” or do “Iron Decorator” when you don’t want to spend extra money but neeeed a change!?!?!?

Gorgeous! I would have nevah thought of it! Love your creative mind and spirit. Iron Decorator. I like the name. 😉 Yes, I’m always changing things up around the house, moving things around. Using items different places. And popping in new Goodwill finds here and there. I spent 30 minutes last night rearranging things in my living room. New mantel for spring. Don’t tell anyone I still had red candles on it from Christmas/Valentines. LOL
