Yesterday I caught something.
I was walking the mall, which is as you know, already decked out in Christmas finery.
I was there with one daughter and three tiny granddaughters, two of whom were in extreme fussy-mode.
Three year old Ellie, in an effort to cheer up the fussy babies, started singing at the top of her lungs…
“Rudolph the red nose reindeer-had a very shiny nose.”
Stehpie (the daughter) and I looked at each other, eye brows shooting upward, do we tell her to stop? We don’t want to hurt her feelings but we don’t want to bother other shoppers!
But before we had to make that decision we heard voices join in loud…
“And if you ever saw it, you would even say it glowed!“
Following the voices, I looked over my shoulder to see three ladies all smiles-singing along with Ellie!
We stopped, turned the strollers toward them as they sang: “All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names”
And just like that, I caught it.

Beautiful, sometimes elusive, but always welcome… JOY!
Joy is contagious. But so is cynicism and grumpiness.
Father if I infect someone today, let it be with joy.
Praying that you catch joy today my friends and that it’s very contagious…
