It’s so good to be back here at All Things Heart and Home today!
In case we didn’t get a chance to meet last month, my name is Julie and I blog at Lilacs & Longhorns.
I love all things related to home — decorating, gardening, crafting, baking and, of course, doing a little DIY from time to time.
Today, I’m sharing my love of baking with you.
Baking and the holidays go hand-in-hand if you ask me. And, since Thanksgiving is coming that means pies. Homemade pies, to be exact.
In my opinion, Thanksgiving dinner just wouldn’t be complete without pumpkin or pecan pies. I love them both!
Today, I’m sharing just one recipe with you. It’s my signature pecan pie recipe.
Yes…I call it my “signature” recipe.
(Kind of like Shelby in “Steel Magnolias” when she says that pink is her signature color)
It became my “signature” dessert several years back when I first start making pecan pie for my husband.
It was his very favorite pie and he always wanted one at Thanksgiving. Of course I was happy to oblige because cooking and baking is one of the ways I show love to those around me.
I tried several recipes and each time he took a bite of a new version he would tell me what he did or didn’t like about it. It seemed like every recipe was good but was missing that certain something.
So, I continued trying recipes and then landed one one that was oh-so-close! I began tweaking and perfecting it until I landed on just the right combination.
As Baby Bear in the Goldilocks tale says, “It is just right!”
It is rich and delicious and I’ve been making it this way ever since.
It is always a hit with everyone who tries it. I hope you love it too! To get the printable recipe just click on this link.
(By the way, you can use store-bought crusts for this recipe, but I make mine from scratch. I use this one from Martha Stewart the most but I do experiment with others every so often.)
You can find a few more of my favorite fall recipes in this post.
